    Got Lucky by Accident

Hurricane Irene was approaching. I wasn't too worried about the winds, but the storm surge had gotten me thinking about the tide heights. The marina I berth at for the summer doesn't have floating docks, and I'm 30 miles away, too far to keep checking. So I figured, what the heck...I'll just...

Tie down by stern eyes or not?

Re: Tie down by stern eyes or not? If you're not going to reinstall the lifting eyes, then I would just use a stern strap to hold the boat to the trailer. The first time you use something that it wasn't designed to be used for, your asking for issues...regardless of how strong it appears...

what is this cable for on the top of my boat??

Re: what is this cable for on the top of my boat?? Is the boat equipped with a ski pole? A lot of these have eyelets specifically built into the hull to run a tensioned cable to the front of the ski pole to reduce the rearward pull, keeping it from bending under load.

    EdgeStar Icemaker Thermostat

I have an undercounter EdgeStar icemaker that I use on the boat. It is the model that maintains a constant water feed thru a 1/4" line. While in the cabin or under cover, the icemaker works great. If moved to the back deck, it won't cycle ice because the cabinet gets too warm and the ice box has...

telephone and wiring guy that can't figure out his own boat lights and problem

Re: telephone and wiring guy that can't figure out his own boat lights and problem The anchor base has 2 pins as it is a single light with a 12v+ and ground. The bow light has 3 pins as there are 2 lights in there, so it has two 12v+ feeds and share a common ground. Your bow and stern lights...

    Replacing ignition switch

Re: Replacing ignition switch By a universal marine ignition switch an any boating store. Anywhere from $10-$20. The difference between the auto and the marine version is the 'push-to-choke' feature and the better metal quality to avoid corrosion inside the switch itself.
