    If there is that much debris, perhaps the boat needs cleaned more often...been a boat owner over 60 years and have never had these issues with a bilge pump....don't even know anyone that has...no offense to anyone, just a problem I have never saw before...

    Instead of bashing bilge pumps, why not fix the water intrusion issue, then no pump worries... My bilge pump is factory original and still works fine, 34 years old.....I don't see the problem....

    If debris is making your float stick, make a cage from some aluminum screening and enclose the float switch to keep debris out of the way. I use the pumps with the built in float switch. I always make a quick simple screen cage to go around the pump so debris has never been a problem.

    Most folks with smaller outboards have not had any issues using these batteries for starting purposes from my research. You will find the most mfgrs do not recommend them for high HP motors as the draw is much higher. Can't recall anyone complaining about these batteries, unless the owner...

    It will take forever with a hand pump, a small electric pump will make it much easier. Old fuel can be used in a small ratio with fresh fuel but you need to ask yourself, is it really worth it ?

    Spark gap tells how hot the spark is, the tool has an adjustable gap so you can see how far the spark will jump. Not sure on how to test the coil, but it sounds like low compression and weak spark could be part of your problem.

    Years back I bought a small 12v fuel pump from Amazon just for pumping out tanks. Quite small, comes with intake filter, just add some 5/16" ID fuel line. I use a 8' long wire with battery clips to keep any spark at a distance. I think the whole project was less than 25 bucks. Just stick one...
