    Engine slow cranking diagnosis-RESOLVED

So on my sig boat-1995 Rinker, 5.7, carb (4 barrel) bravo 2. Cranks slowly. All electrical systems checked-connections good, brand new battery fully charged, brand new plugs, cap, timing etc. Has what I would consider to have high but good compression (135-150 psi). Can't find an hour meter, but...

    boat compound/wax

There's other threads on here you can look at too. This is certainly one of those "ask 10 people, get 11 opinions" questions. I'm a fan of Collinite. Google search and buy directly from them. In a pinch, I will also use synthetic (not carnuba) car waxes. Mcquiars NXT or Turtle Wax Ice...

    Need Ideas for Boat Mooring

You might be able to tie up stern in. With two good spring lines and 5 bumpers, it might work. It would be similar to below. This is shown with a 6 foot pier, 10 foot wide slip, and a 21 foot boat. Red is dock lines and purple are bumpers.

Can I start/charge my deep cycle from the alternator?

I have opened a can of worms on this battery thing, but this is a separate question. If I'm on the hook for a couple of hours, can I start up the motor and charge up the deep cycle house battery? I guess I've seen where folks say this is a bad idea. I suppose I could get a dual purpose...

House battery sizing and discharge rate

I know there is a way to calculate how long my house battery will power my electronics while on the hook, but can't quite remember the formulas. I'm adding small amp to the stereo this year, so with that running half total power output, I'm expecting somewhere around 40-50 amps total draw. We...

    Fishing line quick connects?

I have purchased bulk snap lock connectors for my 3 ways in the past with some level of success. Doesn't work too good for fish that spook easily like some bass and walleye, but muskies couldn't care less.

    Adding amp. Use buss bar?

The first column on the chart is circuit length and the chart is set up for 3% drop or less, so 6 gauge should work fine. Yes, circuit breaker. Forgot to mention it. But why run straight to the amp? The panel in the link from my first post is intended as a distribution block. The wiring...

    Adding amp. Use buss bar?

Planning on adding a stereo amp with a 40 amp built in fuse. I suck at electrical ,but peak output power is 94 watts x 4 channels, so 376 watts/12.5= 30 amp draw. Sound right? Ok, then per the following chart, and about a 20 foot run from the battery switch to distribution block, I need to...

I want to build a smoker, question..

Test photo. Worked. Very weird. If I transfer these photos from my phone to my computer, they will not upload to iBoats. If I email them to myself and use my PC to open and save them, they work just fine. Phone is Samsung GS4. Any Ideas? Anyway, this is pic of unit during seasoning. I'm...

    House electrical

My 1995 Rinker has shore power. And an electrical panel. Does this panel only control the 110 volt? For example, yesterday, the refrigerator was running from 12 VDC. But on the panel, the switch was off. This leads me to believe the panel only controls the 110 VAC side. Just looking for...

Have you ever broken a gimbal ring by overtightening???

I have a thread on here regarding the worn gimbal ring issue on my Bravo outdrive and possible fixes. I have done a lot of internet research and some folks say you can over tighten and break the ring. (even below the 53 foot pound torque spec set by Mercruiser) I can't really see it breaking...

    wrong prop for drive?

I would tend to believe this also except if you look at post #21, in the pic, it is clearly a B1 upper:frusty: At this point, if it's solid and I can achieve correct WOT rpm range without over taxing the motor, I'm going to have to let this go. I have to address this stupid gimbal issue...
