    Rigging outboard question

Usually you would use marine grade adhesive sealant and that's what I would recommend. Should be available in every marine shop.

    My boat sank, part II

Sorry to hear about your boat. I would get it started if even for just a few seconds to get oil circulated and cylinders cleared, then worry about impeller damage before sailing it. Well maybe for a bit more than a few seconds. It's important to get it started as soon as possible

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Does any of you guys know if I miss a bronze bushing in the reverse gear or if it's meant to be like this?

    1997 force 125 thumping

Your welcome. By the way it's not my engine in the video, just one I stumbled across when I had the same problem. I hope you get it sorted! But it's not a small task no matter how you go about it. If you end up changing the gears and dog you would have to shim the gears again and that requires...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Just took some valve lapping compound and worked the dog and gear a bit. It's easier to see the contact patch on the dog now. All three are roughly similar. I smeared some lapping compound on the three dog teeth and then just barely engaging the teeth and twisting so they pulled together...

    105 water pump

My pump house looked like this and from what I could tell it pumped pretty good!

    1997 force 125 thumping

That's what mine did! Worn clutch dog and gear. Found this video that shows it pretty clear

    89 125 won't go into forward gear

It would not cause an issue going into gear. It might actually give you some more forward throw and your prop will push the shaft further back in the housing. But that's not a good thing or something that will help I think. I just tested how strong the hold of the dog was against my reverse...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

I'm grinding the dog and gear right now and it's not easy. I have settled for a contact patch somewhere in the middle of the gear and dog and then I believe it will wear itself a bit more even over time. Getting an uniform contact patch with a dremel is close to impossible, for me at least...

    89 125 won't go into forward gear

You seem to miss the spacer/disc that go between the prop shaft and forward gear. Look at the imprint the splines have made on the gear from sitting for years I suspect! Without that spacer you will have quite some play in the system. Besides I don't think they look that good, especially knowing...

70hp Force outboard idles high and Bogs down with throttle

To me it sounds like it's lean and that's why you have high idle and bogging down on load. Carb rattled lose? Crankcase hose torn, plugged main jet. My pump diaphragm was bad and it smoked a lot and had a colossal fuel consumption. But if it's not delivering fuel I guess you would see the...

Major two stroke screw up Force 120

Hey, like Lou said. More oil = less fuel and like I said, the carb can't tell what oil % you run. Sparks not firing has nothing to do with it. I bet the manual also states not to go flat out the first few tanks.

    89 125 won't go into forward gear

It sounds like your clutch dog and forward gear are worn badly and that the shift linkage was adjusted wrong. If anything you would (should) adjust it to a forward bias, meaning you would have to go past neutral into reverse before you find neutral. I'm doing the same job at the moment and my...

Major two stroke screw up Force 120

Like the others I don't think there's a problem besides maybe fouling the plugs. But I believe it's more of a oil to water thing and very little with engine operation. But don't add extra oil because then you will foul the plugs and actually risk running lean. It seems counterintuitive! But...

    105 water pump

Your welcome and thanks for the compliment, I have to say it's still in the mock up phase :-) Maybe get hold of one of those cheap honing devices with 3 stones you attach to the drill and then sand remaining sharp edges with a fine grit sandpaper. Just make sure the hone is perpendicular to the...

    Bad mixture? Help

Wow that looks bad! Cylinder wall doesn't look to bad actually, cooling could be ok? So maybe a lean condition on 1 and 3? Possibly combined with too much advance and "heavy lifting" But by the looks of it, it must have sounded terrible some time before running rough

    105 water pump

Oh and one more thing. Remember to mount it and rotate it in the proper direction of travel, otherwise you could end up with a blade on the impeller facing the wrong way. But I suppose you already knew! Good luck with it.

    1990 Force L-Drive 90hp -- Can't get it to idle -- losing my mind :D

I can't speak on the engine or sealant used here, but i do know that ordinary red silicone sealant will smear out to no thickness at all, and withstand almost any chemical thrown at it. So I would have to disagree on this one, BUT I COULD BE WRONG! I don't really fancy the stuff myself and use...

    105 water pump

What a nice boat and motor! If you can get a new or better impeller housing I would go for it. With all the pitting I think the impeller would be worn rather fast. Although not the same motor, my Chrysler 65hp also had a revised impeller from what I've learned. It started out as a 10 blade and...

    1990 Force L-Drive 90hp -- Can't get it to idle -- losing my mind :D

To the people mentioning the red sealant. Why should that be a problem? Of course if it's applied wrong! But that goes for anything else. If the block is supposed to have a paper gasket of specific thickness, yes then tolerances will be of. Please enlighten me.
