    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Yes I think many could benefit if it's a success. I'll try to remember some pictures along the way.

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

I think that if you were to apply positive pressure from a spring anywhere in the linkage system to the yoke, thus applying a positive force on the forward gear and yoke at all times when forward gear is selected, you would wear it down pretty quick. The yoke grabs a pretty thin axle with a...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Jerryjerry, no they don't look that bad but you really never know before you take it apart. It's hard to tell from the pictures but it appears the dog is worn the most, and that's a good thing in my book. I don't remember, but maybe from the Seloc manual, they mentioned that the shift rod be...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

The only problem with adding a spring anywhere in the linkage system is that the yoke will be engaged with the clutch dog shaft at all times and that can't be good either. Well I'll keep thinking about what way to go but at the moment I'm leaning towards undercutting the gear and dog.

Force 45 sitting for at least 10 years

That's some solid advise right there...... And a nice checklist to go by! I hope the OP is not as lazy as me :-) When I bought my 78' Chrysler I didn't change impeller and still haven't yet! Sometimes it's nice to know if the engine could work before you prep it to actually work. But if you get...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Hi Nordin, did you also notice the bad design regarding the forward gear? The clutch dog is simply just located forward when gear is engaged and there is no continued pressure applied to keep it in gear. Any play in the system along the line will add up and locate the dog at that point, not...

Force 45 sitting for at least 10 years

Don't need to be ethanol free but the ethanol could damage your carbs and hoses if left sitting for to long. My experience is that it evaporates out the carbs before any damage is done, leaving only the oil behind. A 2% mix should be fine. The stalling problem could be a clogged up carb or more...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

It is hard to find anything for this old engine, but for some reason I have fallen in love with it over it's design, and it also have a history to tell. I already ordered some new seals, o-rings and what else in stock at the dealer, including the famous spacer and looong cone. The cone was not...

    Chrysler 65hp clutch dog problem

Hi folks, took the old Selco and Chrysler 65hp out sailing for the first time in 5 years after getting interested in boating again. I had just received a NOS SS propeller, a 10x14 cupped Michigan wheels and mounted it up and went for a test. Out of the harbour and accelerating the whole engine...

Measurements of Chrysler flared washer/spacer and long cone

I have just recently bookmarked a thread about the clutch dog on the one piece Chrysler leg that Frank replied to. Thought it might come in handy one day. And what happened yesterday when I went out to test the new prop for the first time in 5 years..... It slipped out of gear! To make matters...

    Resurrection, Selco Select 13 ft

Hello again folks. Well I never did get to work on the boat in the winter of 2016, instead the boat sat outside for almost 5 years while I was busy elsewhere. The boat had become one of those things you try not to look at when you pass in in the driveway, just makes you feel bad. My oldest son...
