    It's not leaking but they just mentioned the seal was reaching the end of its life. Boat is 46 years old. Things wear out. Just wondering if I can use some sort of sealant as a precaution and what's the best one to use.

    Ya I have four but I think the previous owner was smart and added two more looking at it. They also had lock washers and lock nuts on it which I'll be replacing with new when I put it back on.

    Did yours have two or four bolts? I see a lot of 'foils that only have two which would create more stress on the cav plate. I gave mine a real good look over and it is free of any cracks.

    Flat out WOT with just me, my wife and a full tank of fuel she turns 4500 rpm at 40 mph. I rarely open it up though. She cruises real nice at 3600 rpm and 30 mph give or take depending on load and burns about six gallons an hour.
