    I have the original pump and didn’t remove the rams. Motor goes all the way down and when I make it go up it rises. Gues I will have to measure the distance but it doesn’t go high enough to even engage the dog ear locks, stops about half way to engage those. Could it be low on oil maybe?

    Yes, I was trying to see if it were possible but it is not lol. I picked this motor up cheap because the guy had the block machined and didn't want to pay the high price ($1.300.00). When I talked to the shop, they had already sold the block. Kind of a waste cause it is in great condition.

    1979 80 hp Mercury swap out

    Thank you for all your previous help! I managed to get the motor swapped over from the other boat and am happy with how it's running, seems to be running smooth now and have the cowl put back on. Todays project will be adding a 2nd battery with Blue Sea ADD-A- Battery kit, should be interesting.
