Thinking about going from aluminumto stainless???

Re: Thinking about going from aluminumto stainless??? I don't feel that it's unreasonable to expect this boat to do 40 mph with 190 hp, if the motor is reasonably healthy. The most cost effective solution would be a Solas Amita 15.5 X 17 pitch. It will get those slip numbers down and...

    SS Prop benefits

Re: SS Prop benefits What is your WOT rpm reading at 40 mph? If you're not propped at the top of the rpm range(6000), performance with the 4 stroke will be on the sluggish side. Also need the prop size and brand for a reference. In reference to fuel economy; according to engine tests...

new to boating: buying a 2004 tahoe q4, please help

Re: new to boating: buying a 2004 tahoe q4, please help Boy this is a tough crowd. I'm with oldjeep; in that I see nothing in the description to scare me off. The fact that some folks don't care if the radio works is no big deal. I hardly ever turn mine on. It's a stretch to say that leads...

Looking for new prop but not sure on dia. and pitch ??

Re: Looking for new prop but not sure on dia. and pitch ?? Does your boat look anything like this tracker 20 ft boat? If so, I recommend you look for a 17" pitch prop. My choice would be the Solas Rubex 13.3 X 17 for $108(from iboats). Your 1999 Johnson's rpm range is 5000-6000 rpm at...

    RPM and MPH for skiing

Re: RPM and MPH for skiing Inboard ski boats are geared and propped for their intended purpose. This generally does not include great fuel economy. 3500 rpm at 30 mph sounds about right to me. :)

    slop in prop

Re: slop in prop Are we talking about taking off a Mercury prop with the Flo Torque hub and putting on a convention hub prop? Did you use the proper outer washer that goes on the prop before the prop nut? If you run out of threads on the prop shaft and things are not tight, you left something...

    Boat bounces on trailer.

Re: Boat bounces on trailer. I'll suggest two things to correct most of your problem. First, move the winch stand forward as much as possible. It only takes a few inches to shift a couple hundred pounds. It may be necessary to move the trailer jack forward a tad. It makes no difference...

    defrance between 1;61 gear 1;89

Re: defrance between 1;61 gear 1;89 You are complicating this too much. It's very simple. All you need to do is put on a "bigger" prop with more pitch. I am guessing that a 21" or maybe a 23" would hold your rpm down. I can't be certain until I know how high the rpm will go now. Since...

    Engine size need new prop.

Re: Engine size need new prop. The Glastron V-157 is a 15 ft tri-hull bow rider. The stern drive version would likely have no more than the 120 HP engine; which is a 153 CI 4 cylinder engine. The drive uses a 1.98:1 gear ratio.
