Looking for a Tohatsu M5A service manual ?

Thanks i had seen that thread but none of the links are for this model. I am in Australia and cost in $US + international postage makes for quite an expensive manual for a motor that I am just playing around with as a hobby.

Looking for a Tohatsu M5A service manual ?

Yesterday I got given this little air-cooled piece of history. Doesn't have a manufacturers plate but looks same as the pic below (not mine). Only thing that is missing is the recoil starter. Very simple and well made it seems. Loud and smoky no doubt! Thinking about putting it on my Cobra Fish...

    Stuffers on crossflow

The motor I got them from was plated as an 85hp (early 80s model from memory- newer style trim tilt) however it had 115 carbs on it so not really sure if they were originally from that motor or had been fitted to it by previous owner. I've never fitted these before. The screw markings line up...

    Stuffers on crossflow

Hi everyone. I had a set of stuffers from a wrecked motor I bought ages ago. I finally got a replacement intake manifold gasket in the mail and decided it was time to put them in. The stuffers sit proud of the manifold when in position and when I try to tighten up the bolts to compress them down...

Spark plug wire for 1975 Johnson 115

Ha. Just seemed strange to me why it wouldn't be crimped like the other end which seems much more secure.

Spark plug wire for 1975 Johnson 115

I just checked the mercruiser suppression cable and it is in indeed a carbon core. It measures about 5000 ohm per foot. Not sure if that is enough to affect performance but will probably just try to buy the copper core if i can find it.

Spark plug wire for 1975 Johnson 115

I have a cracked spark plug wire on the above motor. I discovered it via a nice shock. I have some kits with wire and crimp connectors for a Mercruiser V8 which I can use to make a new lead. The wire is labelled Mercruiser 2208 suppression which indicates some kind of EMI shielding. It is also...

Thanks for posting that - very helpful to have somewhere to start!

Identifying old SS OMC prop size

Hard to make out on one but it looks like 13-3/8 x 17, 13-3/8 x 17, 13 x 19 from what i can make out from these three. I'll check the others tonight.

Identifying old SS OMC prop size

Ok thanks. If there are markings on them then i cant find them. If i know exactly where i need to look i can use a bit of metal polish to check carefully.

Identifying old SS OMC prop size

Sorry didn't mean to confuse by saying OMC. Yes they are Evinrude/Johnson outboards - standard 3 blade props that use nut with cotter pin and backing plate. I'm just wondering whether there were different pitches for the blades. The diameter is same for them all. Seems strange not to have...

Identifying old SS OMC prop size

I have 4 SS props that came with various parts engines I have bought. They are 13 spline for mid 70's V4 OMC motors - all were between 73-77 models 85hp or 115hp. I cannot see any markings anywhere on these and cannot find much on the internet about the options that were available for pitch at...

1975 Johnson 115 air box cover required?

I can find one that is for a 1972 model (part number 0385254). Mine is listed as 0320048. It looks the same in the pictures except that it has removable grommets whereas I think the 1975 model didn't have these but could be wrong. The part number for the base is different between the two models...

1975 Johnson 115 air box cover required?

I have done most of what you have suggested already. Starter motor has been cleaned and inspected. I have transplanted an ignition system from 1980 model and am now getting good spark. Lower unit passed pressure test and I've replaced the impeller. Just the bent water tubes which i'm in the...

1975 Johnson 115 air box cover required?

So the cover is important then? Does the hose drain away fuel that has leaked out? Yes i'm feeling the pain of this model being a bit of a design transition. A parts motor would be great. The rear lower exhaust cowling cover was also missing. Thought they would be easy to get.

1975 Johnson 115 air box cover required?

My motor didn't come with an airbox cover on it when I bought it. They are available on ebay in the states but not locally here in Australia currently. May find one at a wreckers if I'm lucky for $100 or so. Gasket is $27 from Crowley. Is it necessary to have this on or is it something that...
