    Larson Lapline All American

More progress. We have had a lot of fun doing this project so far. We are using West System epoxy, and decided after talking to the West rep to use the slow hardener to give ourselves extra time. We laminated the transom and cross members with no issues. Installing the transom went great. In...

Local fiberglass supplies in Appleton WI?

As we get ready to start working with fiberglass for our first time Mod EDIT I know I can order online, and may if that is recommended, but I sure like going in to a shop with a smarter-than-me person to talk to. Recommendations?

    Larson Lapline All American

And while I am thinking this process through, help me with this one. The gel coat on the deck is blistering. There are a number of blemishes where the blister has popped and the gel coat bubble is gone, leaving a pit. There are a larger number of blisters. My concern is that this process will...

    Larson Lapline All American

I found this little tag on the inside of the transom.

    Larson Lapline All American

Forward motion today, and validation that we made the right decision. I suspect the boat may have spent time at the bottom of Lake Michigan. That's the only way I can figure the transom would be so wet. We got the deck off and hung up out of the way. The transom is all out, and we are ready to...

    Larson Lapline All American

We did a little more work today. We cut the fiberglass floor out, and then lifted the rotted plywood out. It was wet and rotten from the front to the back. It was so wet at the rear of the boat stern that I really began to question my plan of not doing the transom. Sure enough, with a less...

    Skagit...now I know I have a problem

She did fine driving, and even backing the trailers up. She is making good progress. I find she does best when I get out of the truck when she backs up. You just have to do it and get a feel for it. It gets confusing with Dad sitting there telling her what to do:) Eddie, I have tried...

    Skagit...now I know I have a problem

Well, it is officially mine. We had a nice drive down this morning, 48 degrees in December. Really nice guy, Matt is. He took the 100 Tower of Power Merc off of the Skagit for his Glastron/Carlson. I am pretty sure the Skagit is only rated for 80hp, and the transom is in need of replacement...

    Skagit...now I know I have a problem

I was looking for a good bow light with a flag staff hole for our boat project, and found a boat on CL that was destined to be scrapped. I worked out a deal with the guy that I would take the boat, strip it, and take it to my local landfill. I can dispose of it for about $20. He can't dump it at...

    1970 SeaKing

Update: It runs! I ran it a few weeks ago in a barrel, and it fired right up. It idles fine, but seems to have some issues with higher rpm. I did not take it to the lake, but I think it likely will have little power. I need to sort out the running issues, and my wife got me the original manual...

    Seagrass vs carpet

I have to redo the flooring in a couple of boats, and am interested in using Seagrass. I have seen it used extensively on pontoon boats, and it looks very nice. Has anyone used it in a runabout? Any pictures? Issues? Advice?

Can you tell what this is?

My dad got this with a rotted old Dunphy yesterday. Fortunately, it was stored indoors, unlike the poor boat. It is very clean, and we are told that it runs very well. I will try to get more information, but had limited access to it yesterday. We are told it is a 50hp that was built up to 57hp?

    Bow flag pole

Funny how life works...my dad just got an unusable Dunphy wood boat that we will likely part out for the hardware. Guess what's on the bow?! And we found the mast laying in the boat! I'll get it rechromed and use it on my boat!!!

    1959 Dunphy...with a twist!

As I just got my 5th boat (all fiberglassics), it seems my dad has caught the bug. He has always wanted a nice old wood boat. He did, anyway. Now, he knows he doesn't have the time or desire, or even the physical ability to get in and out of the boat so easily as he would as a younger man. Some...

    Bow flag pole

I really would like a bow flag pole for my Larson All American. Are there any aftermarket options you all know of? I hate to have to replace the original light with a different one...

    1972 Steury Runabout project

So we may have hit a bit of a hitch in the progress on the Steury. I have posted in other threads on this site about two more boats I just bought. First, I got a 1966 Larson All American. Originally I got it for the motor, a 75 hp Evinrude Starflite. However, it is in such good original...

    1970 SeaKing

I think I may have a problem. I bought another boat today. As some may know, my daughter Alaina and I are in the middle of a restoration, and just bought a "practice" boat for her. Now her friend (also named Alaina!) wants an old boat too! I found this 1970 SeaKing on CL not far from my house...
