    Yeah , its annoying, I mean it wasnt the only car that had that swing axle , Triumph Herald and Spitfires did , and same thing about the Pinto fuel tank being right at the back ......I have owned a few cars with the fuel tank a foot from the rear bumper.🙂

    FYI Anyone finding the dishwasher parts washer idea should keep an eye out for an older commercial dish or glass washer.....or at a pinch and older dishwasher with the old clockwork timer, and if you can get one with a stainless sump ....as opposed to plastic ...bonus

    Yep ,even heating and cooling the bits .......still pays to be ready to drive it on if you have to . Getting one stuck halfway on is pretty much a "cut it off and start again with a new sleeve " There is a knack to doing these so dont be bummed out if you need 2 goes 🙂

    If I was having cooling issues ( or thought maybe I did ) I would run it in a barrel so as to remove any possibility that a pressurised feed ( garden hose and muffs ) is masking any pumping / flow problems

    Yep , my Granddad was dead before he hit the floor and he was 80 something ........but you do see in obituaries "died suddenly after a long illness" .........just means everyone was in denial . I guess you could think that if one has been waiting 86 years to kark it you could hardly say it...

    Lot of good it did him 😆.....but yeah ,another icon gone , never one of my faves but he sure did have some fans . Reckon he was responsible for a lot of childhood injuries too .....kids kung fooin themselves into the ED 😁

    Start it up with the thermostat covers off ,should get a decent gush of water ,about the same out of each of them , only need to run untill you see the water , ideally within a few seconds . If its ok fit your new stats .🙂

    We call them belleville washers too. Usually found where its under a nut that when tightened controls end float on the shaft its on .

    Yes they dont look right when your not used to it all hanging out there. I think that if you were to figure out the weights and positioning thereof of the two different engine set ups there wouldnt be a lot in it ....and you would get used to at all hanging out the back and think of the extra...

    My rod building skills are limited to replacing tips/rings .......Ive even done one on the river bed for some old guy . I have rescued a few rods that only needed a tip ,and even a cheap rod likes a Fuji ceramic tip 😁

    Oh wow ! thats two guys I know (of) called Rod Smith, other one runs a motorbike shop in Nelson . Both me and her like collecting random stuff so I def get that , and if at all possible whatever it is should be in working condition too.🙂

    Yeah ,like being on a work call and hoping that I can bulls hit my way thru it ........untill the boss says " Hamish ( smee ) why can I hear seagulls in the background " ? He was a good bloke ....rang me one day to query my fuel charges "your van has used more diesel than the distribution truck...
