    2003 Honda 8 hp won’t start

If it was running when it was put away last year but won't run now, then 98% chance it's a dirty carburetor issue. 99% chance if it had ethanol gas in it.

    08' Honda 150hp 4-stroke Heat Alarm

From what I have read, Salt Away isn't the most efficient at clearing major scale. If the motor is that clogged up, I would personally try something a little stronger. I recently tried this with my 21 yr old Honda, the results at the link below. Just be aware that chemicals that are excellent...

    What's up honda

Name one company that still makes all replacement parts for products 25+ years old. If you're only going to buy a motor from a company that makes parts that long, then you won't be buying a new motor.

Great job sticking with it and thanks for posting the final answer.

    BF75S (Pre 1997) Wont Start

Then the problem is likely not a spark issue. Are the plugs wet? If yes then it's flooded, pull the rope with the throttle full open. If no then try a shot of gas or starting fluid in the carburetor.

    BF75S (Pre 1997) Wont Start

Testing spark is easy enough, just take one of the spark plugs out, put it in the plug cap, make sure the metal part of the plug is touching metal on the motor and pull the rope. You'll see and hear the spark.

    BF75S (Pre 1997) Wont Start

Usually on pull starts the no-start-in-gear protector locks the pull rope. My guess is either not enough fuel or flooded. Also double check the emergency kill switch if it has one.

Check ebay. Sometimes there are serviceable used parts on there.

    Honda BF 250 Outboard

First Google result. Google a little more to see if it works on the 250 the same. You might find the service manual at manualslib.com

I would start by checking the computer for codes.

8hp starts but runs only at high rpms

Glad you found the cause and thanks for reporting back! It's difficult to diagnose over the internet, but glad you ultimately figured it out. Out of curiosity, how much did that bring the compression up? Shaving the head to flatten it will raise the compression a little, sometimes there are...

Check manualslib.com, they've got a lot of manuals. Be creative in your search terms.

    Cutting out and stalling

Your original post says it runs great then it starts missing and stalls. If it's initially running great, then you don't have a compression issue, it's something else making it stall. That said; when you ran a compression test, did you do it with the throttle wide open? If not then that...

8hp starts but runs only at high rpms

For $100 it's worth the adventure! For the carburetor, to summarize; there are tiny passages and often pinholes, and old gas can turn into tar like stuff that plugs up those tiny places. Just soaking alone often won't clean it out because the chemical only gets to the ends of the tube, not all...

8hp starts but runs only at high rpms

I was afraid of that.. It's either carburetor or electrical, so at least you're getting warmer. You said earlier that the choke helps a little bit, which makes me think it's carburetor related. Just soaking the carburetor won't do it, you need to at least blow every little hole out with air...

2006 Honda 9.9 Stalls in Gear in Idle

The problem disappearing after unhooking the temperature sensor is a big hint. Figure out what is controlled by the temperature sensor (is it the choke or enrichment circuit?), maybe something else in that pipeline is bad.

    Nissan 3.5B idle too high

A "new rebuilt" carb is not new so that's a possible red flag. Also removing a fuel filter is never a good idea, the manufacturer would have put one in with sufficient fuel flow (if it's clean) and removing it is just asking for problems caused by debris getting into things like the carburetor...

Descaling flush, motor that stops peeing

Well, partial success I suppose.. I tried removing that fitting but it wasn't budging and I didn't want to force the issue and break something, so I left it. But it did partially clog up for me while on the muffs, so I stuck a really long weed whacker string down through the fitting while it...

Tohatsu m50d - Dragging piston with spark & Fuel

When you look at the reeds, look very closely at the sealing edges. Look for something small that might be holding one of the pedals slightly open, or any chips if it's plastic or rubber. The tach does sound like you may possibly have some electrical gremlins though. The timing light is good...
