    Difference

Since we aren't able to examine the 2 Props to see any Differences in Blade Design(Shape and Area), Cup and Rake, even Blade Thickness, a firm Answer is not really Possible. Props of different Brands, or Models, throw all kinds of Curves to the Answer, even if they have the Same Dia, and Pitch...

    Process for changing boat trailers?

Lengthening the Trailer would have made Backing Up Easier, adding to the Hitch, will certainly make it more Challenging

    Process for changing boat trailers?

You might want to reconsider about towing with the Extension in Place, as it will reduce the Weight applied to the rear of the Tow Vehicle, and increase the Chances of the Trailer Fishtailing.

    Process for changing boat trailers?

A bit of Paint Remover should make the Trailer Vin Sticker Visible You could McGiever an Extension that you could attach to the Trailer Tongue to add a few feet. Since you have a Truck, it could be kept in the Box, when towing to and from the Launch

    25 HP 4 stroke vs 40 HP 2 stroke???

I prefer the 2 Stroke, better hole shot, the Sound, and the Sweet Smell of the Burnt TCW Oil, plus the added Bonus of Mosquito Control

    Prop, or Engine Issue?

A 1975 70hp would have a WOT Range of 4500 - 5500 rpm, so you are within the recommend range, but being closer to 5500 rpm would certainly be better for Engine Longevity and Hole Shot. However if the Engine is not in Good Mechanical Shape, or is not getting Fuel and or Spark, timed correctly, it...

    25 HP 4 stroke vs 40 HP 2 stroke???

A 2 stroke crank rated 40 will blow the doors off of Prop Rated 25hp 4 Stroke Heck a Crank Rated 20hp 2 stroke would beat the 25hp Prop Rated 4 Stroke, except in top speed, but the 20 would be across the lake and back before the 25 would hit top speed

Why is finding information on boats so difficult?

You don't say what Make your I/O is, what HP, or even what Year. Mercury maintains a Database of all of its Serial Numbers, as the Parts Departments at Dealers do look parts up that Way.

    25 HP 4 stroke vs 40 HP 2 stroke???

With the Extra Weight and a Drop in Horsepower, I can't see how you would expect Similar Performance. Even a Crank Rated 40hp 2 Stroke will leave a Prop Rated 40hp 4 Stroke far enough behind that you could be across the Lake and Back before the Prop Rated 4 Stroke could overtake the 2 Stroke,

Need your opinion about replacing the original Reed Valves in my 1986 Evinrude 30 hp.

The Timing is what determines the Idle Speed on that Engine, so Your Mechanic can't just retard it unless it is to lower the Idle Speed. It is not like on an Auto where the Idle Speed is set by the Carb Opening.

HOA rules say, no boats visible from the street,....

Close to 40 yrs ago, I had a Cop trying to tell me I had to obey some Launching Restriction at a Campground about a 1/2 mile from our Lot. I told him to Eff Off, as the County had no Legal Ability to restrict Boating, that it was strictly Federal Jurisdiction(this is in Canada). I also showed...

Need your opinion about replacing the original Reed Valves in my 1986 Evinrude 30 hp.

There are far Better Snake Oils than Seafoam, to put in the Gas in an attempt to remove Gum-Varnish. Merc PowerTune, or BRP Engine Cleaner. The risk of using any Cleaner in the Fuel System, is it will dislodge a clump of Gum/Varnish but not dissolve it, and that clump goes on to really plug up a...
