1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

I have never change a rectifier/regulator but I think you can used both if both can manage the charging amperage from the stator. If your stator output amperage is 16A use one that manage at least 16A or more, if the output amperage is 7A choose one of them. I am a senior...

1990 Force 120HP carbs mix adjustment help

I would say every adjustment more than 1 turn out of seated are acceptable. But of course not to much as too rich adjustment will foul the plugs. Leaner adjustment... better idle, BUT too lean the respons when doing a "hole shot" will end up with it hesitate or die. Some Chrysler/Force engines...

Milky fuel in carb intake force 85hp

Follow the Master Tech information about breaking in period. I run 3-4% (33:1-25:1) oil mixture when breaking in a rebuilt engine. Has worked out well all the time. Use good quality TCW3 two stroke oil. Then I have always mention in this forum and it applies to a newly rebuilt or a not rebuilt...

Low compression Suzuki OB: 105...105.... and 65

As Faztbullet says, maybe a Suzuki. BUT why does the thread call for a Johnson if isn`t a Johnson!!! The only two stroker OB with white color power head are Johnson or Suzuki. BTW This engine needs a major restore, that bottom cylinder and piston is toasted.

Starting an 57 Evinrude 7.5 fleet win after many many years of storage.

Do as racerone says, check for spark and if it jumps at least 1/4 in in atmosphere. Pull the flywheel and check the coils, it is common on old OMC with magneto ignition that the coils are cracked and roten. Clean the points and set the gap at 020.

1990 Force 120HP B model cannot seem to find the issue with sporadic no start

Yes you can test the coils on the engine. The coils should jump a gap of 3/8 in or more in atmosphere. Spec. OEM stator 680-800 Ohm, output voltage 180V DVA or more. CDI stator 300-400 Ohm, output voltage 180V DVA. Triggers 48-50 Ohm , output voltage 0,5V DVA or more. CDI-box output voltage to...

    Looking for some help

I would use it, but oils are a HOT subjects at forums. I use gear oil for car gear boxes if it is EP SAE 80W-90 in my OBs. But if the gear case in the OB has red metals in it such as brass/bronze bushings you should be careful not to use EP gear lube. They "eat" up the red metals.

Mercury 85HP Thunderbolt Ignition Series??? Whats missing??

"Blue ribbons" Mercury started in 1972 and your engine is a 80Hp with 85Hp decals. In 1973 they were rated as 85Hp up until 1977, then i 1978 80Hp again. 1972-1975 had battery feed thunderbolt ignition system with a distributor, in 1976 and up they were equipped with ADI ignition. Master Tech...

    Exuast backfires 1976 25hp evinrude

Have you checked the cam ring? The flywheel key orientate the cam ring, if the cam ring and flywheel not lining up right it can back fire and would not run. Have to ask too, are the HT wires at right spark plug?

    1999 Force/Merc 75HP 3 Cylinder 2-Stoke Rough Running Issues

Seams odd to me why the carbs not can be cleaned. OEM there is a WB-135A Walbro carb for top cylinder and WB-139A for middle and bottom cylinder. You can pull main jet, main nozzle, idle mixture screw and welsh plug from the carbs and the welsh plug is stock at various websites. Put the carbs in...

    1976 25hp evinrude flywheel problem

Different flywheels cause different ignition system. 76 has the low tension system with points and a drive coil under the flywheel. 78 has CDI ignition with a power pack. Sensor coil and a charge coil under the wheel.

    4hp Extension Gasket

As racerone says no gasket. That gasket #30 is shown as #38 in diagram exhaust housing as you pointed out. It is for the exhaust housing mounting to the lower pan.

    Mystery engine

Yes, agree but the 2 cylinder 40 and 50Hp had VRO. I have converted some 40 and 50Hp with that kind of fuel pump. You are able to put that pump at a 35Hp too.

    Mystery engine

I think those fuel pumps with a hose fitting to the pressure port is a retro fit pump if you convert from VRO to regular premix system. The VRO pump take pulses from the crank case with a hose connected to a fitting at crank case.

    Looking for some help

Have all pedals at each V-block a gap of 0,010 in or just some of them? The pedals should close completely to the mounting V-blocks, some can have a slight gap. 0,010 in gap sounds to much in my opinion, 0,003-0,005 in (0,07-0,10 millimeter) would be acceptable and at some of them. I use a flash...

    Looking for some help

Spray premix again in each carb and when it fires up try to choke it manually on and off with the choke rod. If you can get it to run longer than before then you have a fuel feed issue and I would suggest to check the reeds. They are behind the carbs in the manifold. V-blocks behind each carb...

    Looking for some help

If he has adjust the timing from 30 to 28 dgr BTDC at WOT and at top plug, the flywheel key is okey. BTW 28 or 30 drg BTDC does not matter, it will start and run with both.

    Looking for some help

When cold engine you have to choke these engines. The choke butterflies have to close completely when engaged. Spray some oil/fuel mixture with a spray bottle into the carbs while cranking. If the timing is right and you have right HT-wire at right spark plug it would start or cough. If not you...

    Force 125 throttle cables

I do not understand your question. "Part you rotate"? You screw the connectors to the cables. The one for the throttle is the longer one and it is spring loaded.
