    Getting new prop, couple questions

You mention Rpms are low. Is this a new thing, as you also mention what might be misfires? Keep in mid that propping this time of Year usually results in a prop that is too high in Pitch during the summer. Unless you are south of the Equator. I believe your engines WOT Rpm Range is 5000-5500...

    16ft Glasspar w/65hp 2 stroke

Depends on how the engine Wiring is. Some Wiring Diagrams show the Tach lead going to the Ignition System, others, even for the same HP, show it going to the Charging System. Changing the # of blade has no hard and fast rules regarding pitch adjustment. The 2 Blade Props Mercury used to make...

    Which hull brands to avoid

That is exactly what Glastron is an Entry Level, maybe even subentry Level

Glastron is Garbage, and they certainly DO NOT Honour their Warranty

    16ft Glasspar w/65hp 2 stroke

If you use an Automotive tach on the Ignition, you would have to set it for 8 cylinders.

Compatibility, as well as a Sale. In the late 60s early 70s Merc moved from using the Ignition System for the Tach Signal, to the Alternator. For me, I find setting the Tach for # of Cylinders far Easier, than for an Alternator, as I can count Cylinders.

    16ft Glasspar w/65hp 2 stroke

A 1969 650 would have a WOT Rpm range of 4800 - 5300. I find 6500 with a 17" prop on your boat a little high, either you have a lot of Slippage, or the Tach is way off. As mentioned, Mercury did offer a lot of 2 Blade Props for their Engines in the 60s. The 2 Blade Props had a larger Diameter...

Water Cooled Engines tend to run a lot Cooler than Air Cooled Engines, and that is why the TCW Oils were developed. TCW in an Air Cooled engine usually isn't a Good Choice. I like smoky Oils as they help keep the Skeeters away.

Looking at it, there is Metal Missing, and that will increase as you file it smoother. Replace it, or repair it.

Can I swap factory tilt/trim from Mercury version 85hp to US Marine version 85?

"and it looks like I should be able to just swap over the factory T&T assembly from the Mercury version to the older USM version" Close is only 'good enough' with Horseshoes, Grenades, and Nuclear Weapons... Without having the Model Numbers, to look at the Parts Listings for Both, I can't say...

4 Strokes didn't and still don't have the Acceleration/Torque Curve that the 2 Strokes have/had. Add their much heavier Weight, and Boats that were capable of Pulling a Couple of Skiers with a 50hp, are Slugs unless fitted with 150+hp

78 Johnson 115 Running Great! But Bow of Boat is "Plowing"?

I have seen quite a few Hulls that have Hooks built-in near the Chine, I suspect the Boat Maker figures that at Top Speed, that area is not in the water anymore. I'm not a fan of that engineering, as at lower Speeds, it increases Drag, and while trimming the Outboard further can still raise the...

78 Johnson 115 Running Great! But Bow of Boat is "Plowing"?

If the bow is plowing, it is too much weight up front, too much inward Trim, or the Hull has a Hook. My Avatar shows how little of my boat is in the water at speed

I would expect complete Powerhead replacements rather than complete Motor replacement. Of course, the original Midsections and Lower Units could be recycled by Merc, as refurbished units for such Warranty Replacements
