After watching some videos on YouTube I find out that the purpose of that hub is actually tu spin when the prop hits something, so based in the video do you think is damaged or just as it should work? Another why I wouldn't get to speed up if the motor was revving up?
Thanks
Hi, so I went to the lake yesterday an hit some rocks after launching the boat and it stalled, not a big hit apparently although after that we started boating no major issues at low speed then when I started to increase speed motor went high in revs but no more speed, felt like no power was...
So I went the easy route, my harness had like 2 foot extra in length so I was able to just repair the damaged wire and is working good now, I did noticed all the insulation of the cables is falling into pieces so I plan to change the whole harness soon.
Hello,
I have trouble starting up the motor I turn the key and have intermiten fails, sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't, some years ago I repaired some wires that were completely destroyed, rusted and falling in pieces, I saw yesterday while trying to crank some smoke comming from...
First time I hook a Tilapia, I don't know how is called this in english, not common to get one of this with a lure, and yesterday I fished 2 of them, not very fun the rod just felt heavy, no fight at all.
Good experience anyways.
Not a lot of updates just cleaned up the carbs and fired it up, it sounds good at idle will never know until going back to the lake if it revs ups, but I remembered in other thread ot maybe in this one before the rebuild of the motor jerry told me to spray starter fluid to see if it was leaking...
The boat is 15' long, I'm unsure of the lenght of the trip but we were running average 25-26 mph, that means that over all it was 1.3 hours more or less. According to what I have read the rle of thumb is that my 50 hp will burn 5 gph. It should had been 6.5 but we burned 10. There are things to...
Hi,
what kind of tachometer I need for my outboard? 1978 Mercury 500 Thunderbolt 50HP S/N
4967035, after some tweaks I think it is running good but even being a small engine it is a thirsty one, it consumes too much gas to what I believe should be doing, we usually go WOT I want to change that...
solved with new cables, definetely the not shifting was due to the very damaged cables I had, I got the 13' same as the ones it had before, I think they are too long but I didn't wanted to risk going for the shorter ones.
Thanks, altough I did find the Part number in Crowleymarine.com, and there's one availble in ebay so I think I will go for that one, it is a lot of work to get that is not worth risking to make one myself. Would that seal cause the issues I'm having, still will make the test with the cowling...
I was reading some old posts regarding the exhaust leak, some items they mentioned to check is the idle exhaust boot #5 that one is good, I changed it recently prior to this work I will check that I installed it correctly as this is a hard thing to put, the one thing that I know for sure is bad...
Last time I did run without the cowling cover and I noticed it ran better with out it, I don't know if that is better air flow but of course it is intended to run with the cover so I put it back again.
Will take a look to the wires you mention in the stator and trigger.
Forgot to mention when I was in the rebuild process I took a look to the reeds and all seemed to be closing except for one, you could see a tiny light through, but I believe its in the acceptable range.
