    Tohatsu M70B Cylinder Head

my mistake ! I thought you had an M70A. but all the same, the 3 cyl head is on ebay too fresh from Japan for $275 or so. sure beats getting a new motor! 3F3B010010

M15D2 Excess Fuel in Lower Cylinder

good info. i would add that i am not always correct about saying the main jet is the sole contributor for midrange-full throttle. on a few carbs, the idle circuit is always active, ie. "assisting" the main jet. i dont think these are like that just thought it was worth mentioning!

    Info on Evinrude 115 E115TLETS

don't forget the most under-utilized can in the outboard world: Engine tuner (or quicksilver power-tune). follow the instructions for a thorough de-carb or there is a high chance those crossflow rings will stick. then do it every season or 50 hours religiously and it will live forever. the most...

    Evinrude 1981 70hp 70tlcim - Intermittent Spark

you may find the polarity is reversed on these, and its an AC reading if doing the test without a DVA adapter. if it sparks somewhat, you know the charge coil in the stator works. need a cheap DVA adapter to properly test primary terminals and sensor coil jumpers (use DC setting this time). just...

    Evinrude Tilt Trim motor

it didn't drop down into the unit did it? when replacing it, and the motor's out assuming its a cheap chinese motor i back out the 2 screws and stuff some sealant under them, and get a small paint brush and seal up the o rings. you will find them bone dry... water gets in easily. hence why some...

    Attempting a motor rebuild

out of 50 "clean" motors I see, i would say 47 of them need a bore job. especially if a cylinder is scored. just did a 70hp 1982 johnson that only had 6-8/10ths of wear, havent seen one that good in ages. but cannot recommend doing it right the 1st time enough. there is nothing like the feeling...

M15D2 Excess Fuel in Lower Cylinder

very strange! i say that because at idle, its not drawing ANY fuel from the main. that kicks in around 1800 rpm or so. all a larger hole would do is make it stall/bog when you gave it some throttle. the excess fuel problem must be from a bad needle/seat or improper float height. literally the...

No fuel being drawn into lower cylinder Johnson 7.5hp

or how about going on ebay and picking up a cheap used powerhead? i see quite a few little OMC powerheads from England on there! i say no way it will idle right again with that piston skirt like that

    Evinrude Mount Assy needed 5007470

you can pin the lower mounts easily by drilling 2 holes strait through them vertically, then wedging 2 7/16 or 1/2'' stainless pins to stop them from wiggling. its very advisable to do the top mount this way as well, however but will really stiffen em' up and help handling, especially the lowers...

No fuel being drawn into lower cylinder Johnson 7.5hp

just gently poke the reeds with a pencil. they should move easily. if not carb cleaner and a slightly manlier poke should get em moving. slow speed needle... if its in too far (lean) will cause issues. start with 1.5 turns gently seated. fyi your gauge is probably reading low. i believe these...

1987 johson 225 hp power issues

no problem . those chinese kits are almost a joke in that it seems they made the rubber actually dissolve with fuel. if a customer has fuel issues thats one thing i ask. seeing how many are sold is frightening!

Are Chrysler motors junk and to be avoided?

so thats why all the mag 2 stuff is gone ! haha. JK. very lucky you got that stuff! that retrofit kit is probably almost as rare as a CD module. one guy has a 1977 65hp but wants $550 for it. its sitting in his garden on its side with the cowling half open:) i tried explaining to him they...

1987 johson 225 hp power issues

1st gotta figure out if its fuel or ignition. did you try hitting the primer when it surges? pumping the bulb? if it smooths out you know its fuel. If it does nothing then slows down, its ignition. you will need a DVA adapter for your meter to read primary voltage going to coil from pack. if...
