Diesels on MC ODs? I didn't think that they could handle the torque???? News to me.....

starter lockout with rams full out

You have switches on both sides of OD that provide OD angle to helm gauge and limits the raising of OD as not to damage gimbal/drive. You should have a "trailing" switch too that bi-passes the limit switch. The limit switch requires adjusting per manual specifications. However, both switches go...

    Alignment help!

I paid an incompetent marine surveyor for rot inspection, which has cost me 4 fnnnn years of rebuilding a 1986 SR. I suggest to drill 1/4" holes inside transom near assembly AND by drain hole. TRUST ME!!!!! If crap comes out or NO hard wood, get ready for a LONG job. Sorry!!!!!! If good, then...

Water in Bilge? Where can it come from.......

I feel your pain!!!!!!! Just take a 1/4" drill bit and drill a couple of small holes on the inside near where motor bolts up. If black/brown crud or water comes out, expect to pay 4-6 grand to REPLACE transom or get ready to work your butt off to replace it yourself. IT IS A JOB!

    7.4 L29 idler/tensioner grenaded, issues?

I have never had an auto idler lock up. I am 72 year old. I am surprised that alternator light didn't come on. Maybe alt locked up? You probably would not have noticed it because of kids. I installed loud audio alarms, just to be sure that the same thing DOESN'T happen to me. Spin everything...

On the water help please. Non emergency.

3 years with same fuel in tank is a no-no! Even adding good into old sucks. Drain completely, including inline and water separators. I've owned 6 MC V8s and all carbureted. I don't know s about FI. However, some tanks even have a filter or screen inside pickup tube. That is a start!

    3.0L hard starting when warm

I have only been exposed to carbureted MCs, but most of the time when they were hard to start (crank) after getting hot, was due to too much "advanced" timing. If it turns over but will not "ignite" I after heating up, suspect perhaps a wire from coil is leaching current? Buy some GOOD rubber...

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

I had very similar to me after buying reman heads from local shop. Shop stated heads were NOT from a boat, but they were cancer-ed from something! It cost me a motor!

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

UR learning!!!!!! I feel your pain as do most on this forum. Most of us have been THERE to one degree or another maintaining MCs. I sense that if you pull manifolds and heads and look for rust seeping through a crack or heads that you will find something. I suspect crappy heads since machinists...

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

Well, something is leaking? I had one that was defective (remanufactured) from machine shop. The last water passage port near rear of motor eroded internally and allowed water leaked into chamber. Good luck!

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

It has been my experience that if water (now air) is coming from blown head gasket, it will be easily identified (rust) after removal. There is always a crud trail. I also suspect that you are in for a lot of work. It is not rocket science, just lots of labor. If I had 60+K to **** away on 2 4...

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

Maybe not... Proline also had crummy hatches that leaked or dripped rain water into carb's vents to valve covers and white crap was all inside covers. Murphy's laws always win! Weird, but it happened.

    ANOTHER WATER IN OIL QUESTION

Maybe timing.... Was timing set too high and caused valve issue. I purchased a Proline whose former owner didn't have distributor tightened and it (possibly through vibrations) eventually caused it to turn the wrong way and advanced too much. Nothing but headaches.... I am hoping MC TB 5 with...

    Leave outside with drive off?

Bad OD u-joint grinding kinda of reminds me of CVA joints going bad. Yeah, mice and rats will eat anything. Been there. Squirrels too! Now, my boat has poison for those little sh---.

    Backfiring

Those #s suck! But, before you pitch engine, use tester on another motor as a base line or comparison. I tried another compression tester after testing my motor's poor compression. Turns out that I had I had a loose schrader valve.

Using Neoprene Strips to Cushion Marine Gas Tank

I am hoping that the neoprene would compress where surfacing mating irregularities caused issues. Not familiar with EPDM rubber. I'll research it
