    fuel restriction alarm...maybe?

you will need to hook up a low-pressure guage in the fuel line after the OMS pump to see what PSI it's got. Its in the manual... the steps to check it and specs for that motor's fuel pressure. also make sure the switch at the motor and on controls isn't shorting out anywhere.

Question about parts that aren’t being manufactured anymore

a 1996 70 2 stoke lists that part # for the nut. fits inside the adjuster so the spring has something to push against. i'm not near one of my motors that has it to take a look see. i use the parts book.

Question about parts that aren’t being manufactured anymore

is the nut on the end of the spring? if it's not, it's probably what cracked it i'm guessing after someone fiddled with the spark advance arm. send a better pick of the whole thing so we all can see better!

40hp vs 50hp looper pistons and rods. Scratching my head!

interesting thanks all. I think they must've used the 3 cyl 56ci pistons at different times from the factory as the 84' 40hp was never rebuild. weird! i just assumed the rods were the same as the 56ci motors by eye... didn't research further just figured if they used the same pistons, the rods...

40hp vs 50hp looper pistons and rods. Scratching my head!

i commented bore size because in 84' there was only the 49ci motor with the 3'' bore. didn't think to include the later 56ci. as i always think those were a new design, but i see they simply used the pistons and rods from the 2 cyl. So back to my original reason for the post: if the 3 cyl...

40hp vs 50hp looper pistons and rods. Scratching my head!

i'm sure it does. 3.18'' i think. My whole point of posting here was to find out what piston it was and why it was so different! i didn't realize they worked in a 2 cyl. was just trying to find out if anyone has experiece with this thats all.

    1991 johnson 90 V4 High idle issue

well i'll be dipped! i have had my hands on a few of those t-shaped brackets that actually mount the pump on the 3cyl and v4 motors, and figured it was because no pulse ports. ill take a gander in the shop and have a look.

40hp vs 50hp looper pistons and rods. Scratching my head!

i was thinking backwards lol. it would uncover more of the intake port when the piston is down i guess. but from my research, it looks to be a 3cyl piston if thats possible?

40hp vs 50hp looper pistons and rods. Scratching my head!

i just realized that one on the left is a 3 cyl piston! how it worked and ended up in that 40hp i don't know as the bore sizes are different. now i'm really confused.

40hp vs 50hp looper pistons and rods. Scratching my head!

Below are 2 pistons. one on the left is from a 1986 Belgian-made 50hp. One on the right is from a 1984 OMC 40hp. Note huge cutout on the 84'. both blocks are the same 326100 series. what's the deal? Further, the rods on the newer 86' 50 have no oil holes on the small end, but the 40hp does and...

    1991 johnson 90 V4 High idle issue

racer... are you sure there is a port for the pulse line to directly mount a conventional fuel pump on these? i have used a bracket to mount it, but still needed to hook up the pulse line. on the 2 cyl loopers, i use a brass 5/16-24 plug and use the ports, but cant 3cyl 56ci and up!

    Awful Boat-Outboard Mismatch.-

yes 25'' is extra long, 20'' long and 15'' short. people incorrectly keep calling a 20'' motor "short". for what it's worth, my 1996 four winns horizon 190 was a 25'' transom. most all of them were starting early 90's that took v4 and v6 power.

    Johnson 150 Rebuild/Remanufacture Guidance

No i know there's a good couple inches room before you cut the adaptor... just threw that in there to make sure nothing gets anywhere near it. don't ask my why i said that ha. as for cutoff wheels... i use the ones from Dremel. I know they have a few, so forgot the exact ones but they did say...

    Should I purchase a 60HP 1969 Johnson hydro-electric shift outboard motor?

i'd consider needing a new reproduction main harness as well. it's just sketchy, in my opinion, trying to repair/splice wires toghether of questionable continuity anyway. the risk of a fire starts creeping up. CDI i think still sells them, or you can use one (used) and hope its in better shape.
