Water in Oil (Again) Head Scratcher

That is the correct torque spec for a 4.3 vortec engine Seems like a cooling system pressure test is in order. With that much water in the oil and cylinders/combustion chamber by simply running on muffs the leak(s) should be quite obvious

    Warning lights on dash.

Those are common symbols for engine oil pressure and engine coolant temperature. The lights being illuminated with the engine running indicate oil pressure below specified threshold, coolant temperature above specified threshold, or an issue with the warning system switches/wiring

1989 Bayliner Trophy OMC 5.8L - Help with new boat

You've got a lot of work ahead of you. A majority of omc parts are nla and the only oem parts available are from the used market With two casting plugs being pushed out I'd say the chances of a cracked block are good. Maybe you got lucky, ford blocks seem to fair better from non winterization...

1996 Four Winns Sundowner with 5.0 Cobra engine and drive

Oooff! I tried several years ago to do just this on volvos website and could not locate any parts/schematics for the "crossover" engines Story is OMC wanted to sell their sterndrive line due to failing market share/sales, warranty eating profits, and imo a poorly designed sterndrive package...

    350 MAG temp issue

Squeeze grey tab and pull hose end off of block drain fitting. Water should stream out with decent pressure at first. Lessening as the water level in block decreases If no water is initially present upon hose removal, probe the drain fitting with a stiff wire. A short, bent piece of a coat...

Very hard to steer towards starboard while underway

Agree with fun times and will add that a rotary style helm for a sterndrive is not the preferred setup. If indeed there is a rotary helm/cable it would be in your best interest to upgrade to rack/pinion

    MR-1 U Joint Bellows Leak

Running the boat won't have any more effect on damage as just sitting static without a clamp in place Bellows adhesive is used as much as an aid in installation and corrosion prevention as it is for actual adhesion. The clamp provides a majority of the sealing/attaching of the bellows If...

Penta 275 outdrive prop ate the rope couple screws snapped

In essence, science The anode is present to enhance catalytic corrosion upon itself. It's sacrificial as in it deteriorates sooner than the drive itself. The anode's inherent design is to corrode. Fresh water use only requires magnesium anodes, salt water requires zinc. If you're 50/50...

If you want outboard diagnostic equipment you must have the proprietary equipment for each manufacturer. This is a sterndrive forum. Outboard diagnostic equipment questions should be posted in an outboard related forum. I only have access to g3 for outboard diagnostic equipment. If you're...
