    It's not tilt assist its a tilt aid. Tilt assist uses a paddle looking handle on the starboard side with a cable going to the cylinder. Mine is just a basic looking cylinder.

    ON MY NEW TO ME 1987 55 HP TILLER MANUAL START LONGSHAFT I CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE TILT PIN INTO THE LOWEST HOLE ON THE SWIVEL BRACKET.     Johnson 55 hp electric start conversion.

    I have the other parts like solenoid and start switch parts. I'm going to try starter number 0389275 based on a similar year electric start 55 hp. I compared cylinder block part numbers are the same between the motor I ordered the starter for and my cylinder block so in theory it should bolt up.

    I'm looking into putting a starter motor on this 55 hp 1987 tiller motor. I have a starter from a 40 and a 50 hp 2 cylinder but the bolt holes don't line up properly with the block. Also the cable lug on the bottom of the starter contacts the lower cowling near the fuel connector area. Thought...

    Recoil issue johnson 55 tiller

    Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. The starter rooe pulls out maybe a foot plus with no resistance before it grabs the flywheel. If I jerk the handle a few times first it seems better. Any known parts to check for this condition?

    I think it's no older than 1988. Earlier years used gear oil drain plug washers and mine has o rings. Looks like omc started using o rings in 1988

    Anyone have any tips to replace a rubber hood seal? Appears it is stapled on. Do I straighten the staples to remove the old seal? How about installing a new seal? New staples? Must be a special stapler?

    Was hoping someone can help me determine the year of my recently purchased motor. I have the serial number from the quarter size plug on the block but the model number plate I can't read. It's a tiller 55 hp johnson. Manual start. I'll post pics if that helps

    Oil injection hose question

    I need to replace the oil hose from the bottom of the injection tank to the oil pump. Will I need to go through the bleed procedure if I am not removing oil from the pump? In my thinking the oil in the pump should be filled to the end of the nipple so should be ok to not bleed? 1992 25 hp...
