    22' Islander rebuild

I have a Garmin CV. Wondered if a side imaging unit would have been worth it. Would be interested to hear what you think about it once you get a chance to play around with it. Additional info, I do anchor and fish. No trolling for me. Plus I got the Garmin when Gander Mountain went out of...

    Center console project

I will have to look at it. Its cheaper then 3M 5200 if you don't include shipping. One site showed it was $12.99 but shipping was $67. Would be interesting to see how it stands up overtime for your project. SHSU

2020 Starcraft Of The Year (SOTY) Nominations

@jbcurt00 Looks like @Kmsp1264 hasn't been active since middle of October. Hopefully he swings by and takes a look at the chains we keep tagging him in. SHSU

Moving right along. How you going to seal the deck and secure it to the stringers? Like the Sylvan pics! You sell her for this project? SHSU

    Center console project

Interesting, do you have any data on how it compares to 3M 5200? I know that is the go to for most boaters. SHSU

What did I do wrong with Transom?

Foam: closed cell is the recommended in the form of foam boards. Don't use the liquid form. Many projects start with shoveling (litteraly) out the old liquid foam that had absorbed water. Wood for the deck: I think the standard is 1/2 inch from the factory. I went with ~3/4 as I am a bigger...

What did I do wrong with Transom?

Bummer to hear, but think as mentioned @jbcurt00 left un protected the wood expanded and contracted, hence the failure of the epoxy. I will say I did not use any fiberglass with my build, but that has been mentioned as a point of potential issue. That being said, I also keep the boat in a...

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

Yep, if I had known just how much work it would be at the begining I would have walked. Lesson learned and new experience. No issue with removal. The pressure they are under is minimal. For the areas where they were slightly separated we used a nut and bolt to draw it together. Rivet the...

    1961-1963 Starcraft Jet

Always fun to get through that part. Now you have a blank canvas to make your own. You decide on how you are going to finish the interior before wood or just leave it bare as is? SHSU

Is it me or were there only a handful of splashes this year? Maybe I missed others because they weren't in the Starcraft thread. SHSU

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

I know how the riveting goes... Its a long and slow process when done right. As time went on we got a lot better, but still.... Not something I am entirely sure I want to do again. To clean out corrosion that was easy to get to I used a wire wheel on a angle grinder. For the tight areas, I...

    1961-1963 Starcraft Jet

Relooking at the pictures, it almost looks like the "tray" the battery and leaves are in might be the source for the Leaf-Tea Sludge. Almost looks like they drilled a drain hole for it. So guessing the Transom is shot.... The knee brace also looks really high. @TheHickoryStick, how is the...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

Looking good. You have really been moving along. See you are riveting the deck down. You using 5200 to seal the holes? Love the Shark Nautolex. I have really enjoyed it on our boat. Side note, glassers make perfect donors SHSU

    1961-1963 Starcraft Jet

Even though the splashwell was removed, I almost prefer it to be from what I see. With as small as the boat is, don't know if a splashwell is the best use of space. Will be fun to watch the restore. Oh, @TheHickoryStick, welcome aboard!!!! SHSU
