    Have you checked to see if spark will jump a gap of 1/4" or more on a test device ?-----It will need a new water pump impeller as well.

    Motor may have overheated.----Many folks just do not know how critical it is to maintain these motors.-----There is nothing that warns you in case of overheat.----The motor runs until major damage is done.----Very simple to trouble shoot this motor.----Good luck with it.

    Has a new water pump impeller been installed every 3 years ?---Check spark.----Might be running on 1 cylinder.-----If it has a plastic piece on top of carburetor , Is it cracked / broken ?-----Post the results of a compression test.

    Nope.----You need a puller with 3 bolts ( 1/4-20 ) to get the flywheel off.-----

    It is a 2 stroke and not a 4 stroke automotive engine.----You have to set aside automotive thinking.----Idle RPM is controlled with timing retard.----Throttle plate has calibrated opening because it needs to let a certain amount of fuel in.----That fuel has the oil to keep engine...

    Find the 2 small black wires coming from under the magneto.----They should not be connected.-----Remove flywheel and inspect coils.

    ???-----Not much different than the tap in the kitchen sink.----But good luck with it.----Maybe read a book on how a simple carburetor works.

    What do these knobs do?

    The high speed is adjusted with throttle wide open with boat in the lake.----Adjust for best speed.--Then slow the boat down.-----Then adjust slow speed mixture for smoothest operation and smooth acceleration.

    Best concentrate on the boat repair.----Motors are easy to find / repair. As per post # 87 and #94 as well , in this saga.

    Water pump impellers need to be replaced about every 5 years.------Best investment you can make and easy to do.

    Motor must be taken apart for a complete evaluation.----Do not forget taking lower unit apart as well.

    Water that comes out the tell tale does not circulate through the block.------Could be an internal blockage.-----Any mud wasps in your area?

    Complete water pump kit ?-----Did he replace the seal at the outlet of the pump?-----Needs to be there since it does not have a water tube.----Overheating with boat in the lake?---On muffs ?----Or in a tub of water ?----Running with VRO in service ? ----Mixing oil at 50:1 in the tank ?
