    remember the pump works on PULSED grounds from the emm ( this simulates a 12v from the system's 55 VDDC supply by chopping it down in short bursts ). If you run it on a solid 12v battery...... keep the runs short. Backflusing may clear any crud from the inlet base filter in the picture...

    well the diagnostic would give you info of any detected anomalies on the pump (mostly electrical stuff) but we know the pump is running. IF you have EV diag. just check for any current active codes . Stored (past) codes may tell you about the engine's past life problems ! see link...

    Agree it looks like that........ but OP says they are pits not water ?? I blew up the picture with Powerpoint and perspective is weird to say the least . seems a bad gasket should drop the PSI's ??? . time to pull the cyl head and peek..inside .and post more pictures.. or wipe it :-)...

    I would not be worried if truly out of the box ......at 1200$ no tax on top sounds,,,,, like a good deal. a new one would be double the price ??

    when you choke the engine to start it and put the throttle at start or slow the fuel is sucked up into the top idle drip chamber then inhaled in the crankcase. did you take the carb appart clean the top chamber , check passage at the needle tip and.... the side channel leading...

    lots of variables ...at this point gauge accuracy, gauge type, temperature etc... wait till you run it to redo testing. you own nowit so wait and see.

    just run it see how it goes . can't get much simpler than a one piston 2hp. I have never taken an engine appart and my 9.5hp runs perfectly well at 65psi

    Yes I purchased my EV from an internet supplier who sent a wrong version . they quickly shipped me a second disk I loaded on my cheap Walmart laptop. you can get EV from amazon and the one with the FDTI chip set is recommended about $160...

    problem solved then ... leave it in neutral. for best trouble shooting having EV DIAGNOSTIC software on a laptop will give your access to trouble codes and history . EV diag works on ficht and more modern ETEC engines...

    Not sure why engineers ever thought shutting down 2 cylinders would be a good idea ?? again being 2 stroke how would they have kept up oiling the innards if they had been able to stop the inflow of the fuel oil mix to the 2 dead cyl. . easy to do today on ETECs and modern EFI...

    agree yet if the brass plate threads are not lined up you can't screw down the 4 bolts .

    are we tallking brass swivel ring under the mag plate screw holes not lining up...?? simple... take a sishkabob stick and push it down in a bolt hole till you feel the brass ring is lined up at least with 1 hole and the stick goes all the way down there. The 3 other bolts holes may not...
