    50/1 is the usual mix. some oils smoke more than others . stick with high quality stuff or synthetics. it may be running a bit rich... smoke is good...

    holes... are for venting out or breathing in... otherwise they are plugged ! just make certain they are clean and open ( no crud or varnish etc...)... if that jet does not meter fuel it meters air ....same procedure clean it blow it... don't worry about the design itself somebody did...

    I believe I was explicit on the need to test with high voltages to test for internal leakge. Ohmmeter testing and cap. tester will only be a valuable test if the capacitor is bad.... it will not tell if the capacitor is good !. here are a few articles from the AOMCI Outboarded magazine...

    old style but same style... you likely have a simple jet at the bottom instead of a HS needle .... clean all orifices blow dry if idle is poor may need to clean up the upper LS chamber by pulling the top dime size plug. drill a small hole and pop it out clean the side channel...

    with the possibility of a starer delay relay mentionned in the book have you ever tried going to start and....waiting a second or two while on START rather than flicking the key back and forth just to see if the delay timer relay will then allow the starting of the engine ?

    heat is the usual remedy to loosen things up but...you could try freezing the outer surface of the cyl. wall with a can of keyboard spray held upside down . DO NOT INHALE.... or heat up the cyl. perimeter with a hot air gun and freeze the cap then try to twist and break the bond .
