    I am not to worried about the charge amps. the amp load & voltage to run the starter is the critical one for 3 reasons . a- voltage drop on a long run due the a " to small" cable per/foot resistance b- amp requirement for the starter c- amp rating of the cable itself...

    pulling the PH isn't as bad as it sounds ... been there just follow the video carefull with the top of the drive shaft when removing the PH (small parts (carbon) o-ring etc,,. carbon seal is very brittle...

    strange the part diagram does not show a grommet under the power head ?? if you get a leak you may have to pull the head off the mid section to inspect what is wrong but do check PART #9 as suggested

    normally the cavitation plate lines up with the bottom of the boat transom so this is not a short shaft ...better to long than to short but not matched for sure.

    itpoints to the needles not being screwed in properly you are suppose to gently seat them all the way then unscrew them approx a turn and a half leaks = poor packing nut must be thight to secure the needle. this is no different than a garden water hose valve stem ... see...
