    new engine cranking compression numbers for a 2005 4.3 are published at 150 psi by both GM as well as Mercruiser and VP I suspect the gauge is off, and cylinder 5 has a manifold leak and rust on the valves.

    very little benefit going to vortec heads and keeping a 2-barrel. sort of like trying to run a marathon while breathing thru a straw. (also very little cost difference in the intake) if you are planning on keeping the 2-barrel, save money, just rebuild what you have.
