BARR is the casting house that makes the OEM castings. so get Barr, Volvo or Osco
just unbolting the carb and bolting it back on wont affect a thing. suggest a new gasket between the carb and manifold.
only advice:
righty-tighty lefty loosy on the bolts.
outer two mounting holes on the...
Yes, tool along at 3500 RPM, cut throttle, key off and read plugs. I usually pull cylinders 1, 2, 7 and 8
If you are on a lake or in the ocean, no need to toss anchor. However if you are in a river, you may need to toss an anchor
Your friend doesnt know what he is talking about
Did you swap head gaskets to marine? Core plugs to brass or stainless, and switch to a marine circulation pump?
350 with vortec heads and stock truck/van cam is about 280hp. (260hp at prop) cam is almost identical to marine cam. Not sure where...
The transmission is the same for the 270, 280, and 290. The 280 and 290 are available with single and dual prop lowers.
The main difference of the 280 vs 290 is the tilt/trim and the mid section. Not the trans, and not the lower
the convertible top is removed and stowed, usually behind the stern seat back
if you want to keep it like a bimini, you should remove it and add a bimini. because if you tried to go fast with the top collapsed, it will come loose and bonk you on the head
I personally use an un-lit propane torch to set idle mixture. if introducing a bit of propane raises idle, your too lean, if adding just a bit of propane lowers the idle just a bit, your perfect.
so how are you getting 340hp out of a 350 with wet exhaust?
if you are trying to run more than 270 degree duration on the cam, you will suffer reversion. the most I could ever get with a marine motor and naturally aspirated was about 330hp. to get more, have to jump to a 383 or larger stroker
your mercruiser 470 is a platypus engine
it is unique to mercruiser and mercruiser only, and it has been obsolete for over 30 years
it is a mercruiser designed block, a mercruiser designed crank, a modified ford 460 head and pistons, a GM flywheel and a mercruiser outboard charging coil and...
If there is a port, it would be just aft of the carb on one of the runners. however I believe Mercruiser got rid of that port long ago. It is on the aftermarket intakes and the volvo intakes (edelbrock), however I believe not on the mercruiser intakes as they added threaded bosses for mounting...
boat could have been setup for high altitude with a 1.62 drive
or it could have originally had a 5.0 as SeaRay often paired the 1.62 with a 5.0
easy to determine, pull plug wire, crank engine 10 revolutions, how many turns does the prop make?
the 210 for 96-2002 and its smaller 190 sister...
Fourwinns were not designed for the loads of towers. so you have to add reinforcing as needed.
not sure backing plates will provide enough reinforcing
just as an FYI, on my build, I added braces from the top of the gunwale down to the deck (and the top of my gunwales have 3/8" aluminum plates...
