    "Premium" vs "high performance" lube

Used Merc High Performance in our OMC stringer mount for years. My favorite boat mechanic at the time used it in everything. He said it was the best, with the added benefit of only having to stock one kind of lube.

    Chaparral experts in here ?

The fuel sender should be inside the fuel tank. You would get to from the top, approximately in the middle. If I ever have to get to mine I will have to cut an access hole.

    Chaparral experts in here ?

There is no such thing as customer service at Chaparral. They will tell you to contact the dealer you purchased the boat from.

    Cockpit cover

You are going to have to get one custom made. My cockpit cover got damaged when the boat was only 3 months old, and Chaparral told me to go get one custom made because they did not stock them. I even tried Taylor, since they made all the canvas for the boat, and they said they could only sell...

    Steel Caps or Bearing Buddys?

I think buddy bearings are worth it. Every now and then you get a bad seal. Without the bearing buddy you may not know about it until the bearing fails.

Has anyone seen or heard of a trailer tire doing this?

I replace every tire between 6 and 7 years old, regardless of what they look like. Sure it seems like you are wasting money, but a blowout on an old tire at highway speeds caused $7,000 worth of body damage on my restored truck.

Anyone run Hartland tires from discount tire?

Carlisle tires have become much better over the last few years. I get mine at Discount tire. Another thing I like is the speed rating has increased.

Do you park your vehicle straight into your garage or back in?

I have a company vehicle, and they always say to back it in. But I rarely do that on any vehicle, and only back in when I have something to load in the trunk.

Update to using Toilet bowl cleaner for hull and bottom

Smart and Final has a toilet cleaner with hydrochloric acid in it. Works great on the toilets and will now have to try it on my boat.

suggestions on removing fuel from tank

I use an old 12v Holley fuel pump I had on a truck years ago. Connect it to the hose that comes from the gas tank and pump it into 5 gallon gas cans.

What advice on renting a room out?

If you are real laid back and don't care what stupid crap the renters do, then rent it out. I had a duplex in the early 80's as my first house so that I would have rental income to offset the mortgage payment that was 12.5%. Once I could afford to, I quit renting out the other side. But did...

Found a snake skin in the boat. Now what?

After shedding it's skin in a secluded place, the snake moved on to find something to eat. Unless you have other edible critters in your boat as well. Then glue traps might be a good idea.

    Bad sensor?

I have had other sensors fail but not as much as the water pressure sensor. The water in our area is hard and plugs them up. I am on my fourth one in 16 years. Plus I keep a code reader on board ever sense I was 60 miles up river at Lake Powell when the first one failed.

    Tippy aluminum houseboat

Lowering the gas tank will help when the tank is full. But it looks like you will need some permanent ballast.

    Strakes on Bunks?

Why would you want to concentrate the weight of the boat on a strake ? Not only would it be bad for the boat, it would screw up the carpet on the bunk.

    West Marine? What's the deal?

IIRC about 5 years ago, one of the good employees was telling me they had a major management change, and that he felt they would run the business into the ground. Since then the store by me has only one person working at a time, and they don't know much about boats.
