    I need help

I suspect that you have a ground or connector issue. Start wiggling wires while motor is running.

Missing transom bolt on Mercruser outdrive to bellhousing.

They got their money and figured that you would be a repeat ($$$$$). That particular MC design has sunk a lot of boats.

Missing transom bolt on Mercruser outdrive to bellhousing.

Crappy early MC design to minimize electrolysis (I guess). My 86 Sea Ray had aluminum bottom bolts. When I replaced engines, I went back with SS. Lots of 5200 too.... Luckily, my transom was OK.

Replaced Bellows now gears won't engage fully?

Examine the shift keyway again. Putting od back on can get mis-aligned.

I suspect that I will have to buff hull where lettering was. This is an 86 boat. Thanks

Is this a trim ram issue? Popping and grinding noises from stern drive. pics and video attached!

start by checking fluids in pump. If full and clear, disconnect rams near prop and manually raise and lower OD. Actuate the pump and listen for sound. I suspect one or both rams are sticking and need rebuilding.

    Best boat lettering removal?

I have to remove current boat's name. It is a decal and not painted. Once removed, I can buff area and hopefully make it look decent. There are many products on the market, but I thought I'd seek advice from boaters.

Shift interrupt switch - how to adjust??

My guess, having adjusted several Alphas, is parts are worn past tolerances. You have a 97 OLD boat. If salt used, I know it is worn. Look for slop after making sure switch is functioning. Don't be discouraged. Any adjustment should be made with outdrive in the water. On a trailer is fine, but...

a carburetor shouldn't spill fuel like this, right?

is pump marine grade or automotive??? I tried to cut corners many years ago by replacing a faulty pump with an auto's. Bad mistake!

    Slow trim response

as others have mentioned, many possibilities to verify. In addition, if an older and saltwater used boat, rams may need rebuilding. Easy to perform but time consuming. Always check fluids and electrical connections first, including solenoids. If fluid is milky, water is getting into system and...

    carburetor suspect problems

I have electric chokes on my Edelbroks. However, Quad0jets are good carbs as long as they remain clean inside. I learned a long time ago that sometimes internal passages get crud in them. A mechanic showed me a trick to remove some of this crap w/o tearing apart the carb. With throttle linkage...

    carburetor suspect problems

Lots of years on a gas tank and the crap that can settle in it or in pickup tube or water/fuel filter. I suspect to start there. Hope that your tank can be easily removed, or at least pickup tube easily removed. My old tanks had screens in pickup tubes that were somewhat clogged up with crap...

    Fire extinguisher system

looks like it has sensor/gauge system to turn on blower fan if fumes in bilge are detected. Locate sensor in bilge and hold butane lighter under while buddy watches helm light and listens to blower fan to come on.
