Welding a gimbal housing yay or nay?

yeah, TIG welding and saltwater contaminated aluminum don't play well together. I wish there was a soaking or spray solution to eliminate the salt..

Not familiar with product, but that yoke will experience a lot of RPMs and vibrations.

Welding a gimbal housing yay or nay?

I have TIGed aluminum and SS. The thinner the metal the more warp. I am a do-it-yourselfer and not a professional welder like Rick. I'd go on line and see if you can find a good used one. Old Alphas were easy to find on line, but Bravos not so much.

Constant alarm but motor running fine - 2004 5.7l raw water cooled Thunderbolt

I had a similar set up on mine where it was very difficult to access by oil filter. I relocated to top on manifold using schedule 80 ss. Lot easier to see if leaking and easier to access.

Constant alarm but motor running fine - 2004 5.7l raw water cooled Thunderbolt

I suspect corrosion is causing resistance. However, always test via a manual oil pressure system, if you have one. They are a cheap safety device for peace of mind. This will eliminate any doubt that motor oil/pump is or is not providing adequate lubrication.

2 bottom bolt loops on y pipe broken

If salt boat, you may have difficulties getting it re-TIGED. You may also have corrosion on gimbal housing. Examine very closely. Y pipe may have been incorrectly torqued or just age took its toll. I am surprised boat didn't sink.

Transom plate / Gamble housing through bolts (Alpha1 Gen1)

In my opinion, that was another MC design flaw. I had the same crap on an older 86. I replaced motors and these boat sinkers with SS and lots of 5200

Alpha1 350 raw cooled boils and ticks rapidly after short time on muffs

In NW Florida, most use open gaskets, since the water (Gulf, River, Bayous ) stay warm compared to other parts of the county, if they have an open cooled system. I don't know of anyone who uses restrictor gaskets, but I live on the Gulf Coast. I got away from open cooled systems. It will be a...

Alpha1 350 raw cooled boils and ticks rapidly after short time on muffs

were riser gaskets open or closed? Motor's photo indicates that you have a sea water cooled motor and no heat exchanger.

Bravo 3 Metal Chips on Magnetic Drain Plug

No rust or contaminated lube? If you have time, pull and examine before next season. But, I fish way offshore and it would be a long pull ride home if it exploded while out 100 miles???

Brandnew retro fitted water shutters making tons of noise

motor in video is not an antifreeze cooled engine. At least, I couldn't see any heat exchanger. If it is not a closed cooling system, the gaskets should allow sea water to pass from exhaust manifold to riser and out exhaust.

    Anode replace over hydraulic manfold

With all the other zincs on the motor/od, I don't know if it is really necessary. Perhaps u should ask former owner why they removed it. I have seen several ODs that had and a number that didn't.
