    I dont know about that relief valve ( could be AI talk for the t/stat) either but saltchuckmatt mentions deflectors in his above post ...might be worth googlin that to see if it sheds any light. Testing the overheat using ohm meter or beeper to test when it closes circuit ....if nothing else...
