    120 hp Evinrude 4 cyl looper outboard - flywheel nut

    Do any of the omc stuff have left hand threads on the flywheel nut ? My Tohatsu did ...but the new crankshaft I got was right hand thread .....so I had to get the blimmin nut as well 😡just when I really didnt need another hold up 🙂

    Yep ,I had Cox motors as a kid ,a babe bee .049³" and a .020³" motors . Yes the caster oil in the alcohol fuel had a lovely smell ...stayed on your clothes and hair for days ....according to my Mum 😁

    I think this is peculiar to outboards because the motor is lying on its side with the crankshaft vertical.....gravity an all that ,🙂

    Drilling a hole and either levering it out or putting in a self tapper screw and pulling on that is standard practice . Any filings will be outside the plug ....and you going to be cleaning it out any how . Only real danger is going in to far with drill bit but if your careful ...no issue

    2 stroke motorbikes had similar. I guess it is about marketing and each manufacturer thinking up their own name for what is basically the same thing . I recall one bike manufacturer making a big deal about "crankcase induction" but 2 stroke outboards all do it ....maybe not Seagulls or other...

    Some butchers out there I see😁😁. I have never and never will couple two r.o.e (ring open end )spanners together nor have I ever used a bit of pipe on a ratchet ,I may have once used pipe on a breaker bar but I usually go for a bigger bar ....like a ¾" drive breaker and an adapter for ½"...
