    How Do I remove the Thermostat from the Housing, Ford 5.8

    Just dig out the “O”ring with a pick. The thermostat will then come out. If you know someone with a blast cabinet would help. Or with a sharp angled scribe to clean out the “O”ring groove.

    Look at the starter solenoid, the purple/black wire is contacting the main battery cable or the inside of the solenoid is causing the back feed. Disconnect the purple/black and check the voltage at the coil. This will prove out the back feed.

    The only way is to get a pressure gauge that reads up to 3000 psi and connect it directly to the high pressure discharge port .i know it takes some creative plumbing. NAPA sells 3/16” made up steel tubing with flare nuts in short lengths. You will have to get the fittings to mate to the gauge.
