    Loses power at 5000 rpms

yep The grey line appears to have been my issue. There's a story. Your fuel line is the black one now?

    Loses power at 5000 rpms

if your sensor/horn is working, then there should be an overheat warning. If it's not overheating: then I'd jump to a fuel issue as jimmbo states. So... Don't know your history of ownership, so responding likewise and based on my recent experience with my new 2021 re-power Merc 115 on my...

    1996 Merc. 40hp 2 stroke

trying to help a GF's son. tilt/trim motor runs, does exert pressure when trimming down...will not trim up even when manually trying to help it go up. Worked last year. I tried the bleeding ritual, as much as my back could tolerate. Also, trimming down the motor sounds normal. When trimming up...

    GPS Speedo

anyway. Since my gps speedo does a reset anytime there is the slightest interruption in the electrical supply, it helped me diagnose a corroded section of the power wire from the battery to the ignition switch before it left me stranded. yep, prop for correct rpm, speed is what your left with.

    GPS Speedo

well...neither does a paddle wheel or a pitot tube....It's all relative (remember einstein) If a current is 5 mph but the boat is anchored, the standard speedo will read 5mph +/-.....GPS says O mph.....so which one is more right?...or accurate for the intended purpose. Pull up the anchor...

    GPS Speedo

Meant to add... Also when fine tuning my trim at speed, it can show speed difference 1 mph +/-....if someone wanted to be that precise.

    Left side lean?

" I'm not a boat guy" I'm responding based on this. Do you mean "leaning" or "turning". Some outboards have an adjustable trimming tab on the lower unit that's also an anode. This trimming/anode tab is used to straighten the boat, if needed, at speed once properly trimmed. (picture)) Also, you...

West Marine files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

There's a West Marine about 15 from my marina. Brick and mortars come in handy when I need something now, especially a boat, so it's good having them. No loyalty per se, and I'm like most people with on line shopping but hate to see brick and mortars disappear....a conundrum.... Over staffing...

    GPS Speedo

I installed a GPS speedometer in my pontoon. Great accuracy, no more clogged line to clear.

    Fuel system issues

could just be a "learning" process. Gassed up my '06 pontoon last friday and you'd think I'd never gassed or owned a boat before.

Restoration of 08 Avalon - need to make the right choices

yep. The newer 4stroke efi's are quiet. At idle especially, my '21 Merc. can hardly be heard.

    Very short dock lines

looks like that rear hard plastic bumper top can contact the boat if it's rocked enough. I'd try to use my round air filled bumpers between the dock and boat, like in that gap. I've also moved toward using bungee lines as tiedowns.

    Replacement bimini top fabric fit

I can't answer that question, but my '06 Lowe pontoon's bimini tops were made by Dowco. They are an OEM supplier for many manufacturers. My tops still had the part # tag on them and Dowco still makes them. If yours are a Dowco product, you can still get them most likely.

Replacing water pump impeller for first time

It's the weight of the heavier gear case coupled with doing this by myself knowing that if I mishandle/slip/drop the gearcase with the prop on it that prop could injure me somehow. It was easier using the prop shaft as a hold point for the 115hp.....the 60 hp was easier to manhandle. yep...

Replacing water pump impeller for first time

I've done 2 merc. impellers in the last 5 years. One on a 2005 60 hp Big Foot . The other on a 2021 115hp CT, month ago. I did the 60hp with leaving the shift in forward, as that's what I had read/heard (not mercury). I had to move the prop a little to get the alignment. Not hard, and the 60 hp...
