    The oil pump control lever is not supposed to be hitting anything at the wide open throttle position. It is set in the throttle closed position. It will be wherever it will be in the wide open throttle position.

    Before you start the motor pull the kill switch lanyard. Then crank the motor. Turn the key to the start position that is. The alarm should sound. Is this the same sound you are hearing when operating at idle speed?
