Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

You're right, for some reason in my head I was picturing the choke plate/shaft.

Fuel leaking out of the throttle (butterfly) shaft

I'm actually not sure that this would even be unmetered air. Air is coming in before the venturis so it should draw additional fuel, mixture would still be correct. If anything if would act like the throttle is more open

    2013 Stingray 198lx engine options

    1. I used the newer pan. I forget, but there was a reason why the old pan couldn't be used with the new motor. I wouldn't imagine that you'd have the same issue since you aren't changing vintages. I needed to cut down the dipstick and dip tube to make it work (the truck pan is baffled) 2. I did...

    2001 Mercruiser 5.7 EFI/TBI Scan Tool

Man do I miss that. All the German Bosch FI of that era...My 97 ranger has OBD2 but also can paper clip it for the few ford specific codes.

    2013 Stingray 198lx engine options

Yeah, $180 from the yard for mine (I had to pull it though). '01 blazer, at least 200k miles. Should have gotten it freshened up but didn't want to lose the whole summer. I swapped from an '89 non vortec non balance shaft which made it a bit trickier. The head gasket on the '01 was composite and...

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

So, aside from the mid range discrepancies (which agreed shouldn't be there), is the attitude of the boat on the trailer the same as when it's sitting on the water? My sender is also towards the stern, and it's location makes it so that the tank level doesn't start dropping there until it's used...

    Milky oil

Well...I tried to double check. Manual #8 (looks like where your info came from) only shows that 20 ft lb. Manual #25 (newer models, but doesn't state s/n applicable for some reason) lists it as 22 ft lb. I'm not sure when the roller arm rockers came out (mine had them from an '01 blazer), so...

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I think I mentioned some where around here that I waited tables at EYC, lived on chappy. Used to "borrow" tenders from the harbor to get home after the bars/ferry closed if the harbormaster wouldn't give us a ride. For some reason nobody gave us a hard time about it, and we returned them the...

Where to look for water leak

Actually he said it didn't leak in the water. Then said it didn't leak in muffs... Definitely needs to figure that out first

Mercruiser 4.5l low vacuum, WOT 4350 and higher fuel consumption

Repowering my old 16ft aluminum boat thinking of going 4 stroke but have a question

The problem with the etecs is that there are no parts available. The optimax have super expensive parts combined with poor reliability. A dunked motor isn't worth it, esp salt. I've been chasing electrical gremlins in mine for a few years now. Literally every part that went under (electric wise...

Repowering my old 16ft aluminum boat thinking of going 4 stroke but have a question

Word on the street is that the etecs are steer clear, as well as the merc optimax, but I'm not knowledgeable about either
