Well it’s good your stain was dry.

A clean piston like that is usually caused by water intrusion. Look at the head gasket and see if you can tell if it was leaking. And yes a new head gasket is always the way to go.

It could be one pice. They come in many different lengths. The spark arrester would be separate but it has a pretty sturdy band clamp.

I only used 45’s because the stove is centered in the room under the peak. The 45’s are together and spin on the band to any angle you want. I have no problem with cleaning. I use fiberglass rods that go through with ease. And this even met code. But that was almost 30 years ago.

I watched a vid the other day about a guy in Australia that had to have one made for his really rocky beach. They went through a few trail and errors but finally got it. All remote control tell and he can launch and retrieve solo now. Pretty cool rig.
