    Beautiful Johnson Survivor

There is a guy in my area that rebuilds the older ones and does a great job but lately he’s been sitting on them for a long time. Everybody is moving to the 4 stroke. Sad

1986 Johnson 30hp - Vacuum lines and throttle control rod

Well I it’s time to take a peek at the reeds. A some first test would be to put a pice a of paper in front of the carb while it’s running and see if it spiting fuel back at ya.

1986 Johnson 30hp - Vacuum lines and throttle control rod

When you did the carb do you recall seeing the nozzle gasket? If so did it go back in? If unsure you will see it on a parts page. Have seen a few of these over the years that people leave out thinking they aren’t important.

    stupid question - trailer lights

Changing colors never ends well for the next guy working on it. Can’t say I haven’t done it but I always have colored tape around to mark the end so I don’t have to remember what I did and to try and make it clear to the next guy.

1986 Johnson 30hp - Vacuum lines and throttle control rod

It could be an internal leak. You could try pulling the line that goes to the intake cap It and run it and see if it makes any difference. There are o rings in the primer that can leak and allow a little fuel the pass. Not saying this it it but something to check out.

    stupid question - trailer lights

Probably just diodes to prevent shorts from feeding back to the car. If you have power going in and nothing coming out I would guess it toast

    50 looper vs 85 crossflow

It’s always good to have the extra power if ya need it. If you going to be hauling a lot of gear or friends it may come in handy more than ya think. I’d go for the larger hp myself.

1993 Johnson 9.9 lower cylinder wet.

Yeah I forgot you mentioned it was the bottom cylinder that was wet. Racer mentioned reeds and I guess if there was a broken or bent reed and there was a bad diaphragm dumping extra fuel in the top it could possibly be getting sucked into the lower cylinder. I have never seen that but it sound...
