Yeah I had to be very careful. Only reason I used eBay was because a new stator or from a reputable source would have been at least $300 for CDI and $600 for OEM. I like my motor but I'm not throwing that kind of money at it. I was especially sure that there was a warranty on the parts I bought.

I ran into a similar problem with my motor recently. I had a dead stator and trigger. I ordered a stock trigger and a CDI stator off eBay. I consulted a couple suppliers to make sure I got the right CDI stator. It too had more wires than my stock stator. I think it's designed to fit multiple...

How do you mean? The operation of the control box seems the same with the motor off. Am I missing something?

Hmm okay. It seems my problem is that I cannot get throttle forward enough to fully open the butterfly. Is this perhaps an issue with my control box?

Okay. I've done that so far with the throttle cable, but not the shift cables. If I do this to the shift cable, will that effect the engagement of the throttle cable as well?

Okay good to know. How much play should I have between the gears engaging and the throttle picking up?

Yeah I hear you. Key is definitely not sheared. I did have to replace my trigger recently so I wanted to be sure I was still firing right. So far, at WOT and cranking speed, the 28 mark lines up with my timing mark.

Also, how should the timing marks on my motor look with a timing light, at cranking speed and WOT? It's a prestolite system.

Oh okay I see. Yup I cleaned the recirc plate thoroughly. I had to take the PH off last week to replace the exhaust gasket so I did it then. Lots of junk in my recirc, especially in the screens. Are there any check valves beyond the reeds that I should be concerned with? I tried blowing and...
