Just checked the timing as well. I think it's good. The 28 mark lands right on the dash on the timing sticker while cranking at WOT

Also, I did check the recirc. Had some junk in it but symptoms appear to be the same

Okay so just got the motor fired up after the exhaust gasket replacement. Attempted my tuneup as per the Haines manual. Runs very nice at higher rpm but bucks on its way back down to idle. Idle seems rough to me as well, but it seemed to be the best I could get it. I'll attach a video of it idling.

Gotcha, did that before I pulled it apart. I was certaim that's where my leak was. Mine did have a gasket between the head and the plate. Okay copy on the recirc. Mine was filthy. Full of bits of varnished fuel and carbon. Are there check valves on these 88 50hps? Everything is back together at...

Okay awesome Nordin thank you. My leak seems to coming from between the spacer plate and the powerhead. Any tricks getting that off? I see about 7 or so bolts there. Also, my recirc was super dirty. Anything on that I should inspect?

Also, I opened the reed plate in the recirc system. Full of junk. Should I check anything else while the powerhead is off?

Just got the powerhead off. Sorry Nordin but I did separate the motor from the mid leg. However, the shock mounts on mine, the bolts are not vulcanized in rubber, but instead have a plate they screw into that is vulcanized. Do these gaskets need any rtv or can they just be installed dry?

Hey everyone, so I'm now going in an attempting to pull the powerhead. How many bolts am I to remove? I've removed the 5 or so really large bolts. There must be more right?

Yup it came with the controls. Ill test that before I order a buzzer!
