I guess I should have put a dime next to it for size reference. The piece is about 3/4 inch long and about 3/16 wide and about the thickness of a blade fuse. That's actually what it looks to me. But I just want to make sure if someone knows it's definitely nothing they've seen on a V4.

I read somewhere, and it may be wrong, but thought I read that they dropped the top ring down a little on the piston making it possibly less vulnerable.

I'll go through all the connections tomorrow. I can't start testing the coils, stator, and power pack for the correct voltage until the DVA I ordered arrives next week.

If the V4's are prone to break piston rings, then it sounds like they aren't worth shopping for. Why didn't you mention the common breaking ring issue here?

Do the Wiseco brand pistons fix this issue? Is it worth upgrading to those in such an old motor?

Checked every nook and cranny of the carburetors. Every orifice is clear. No matter what hole I spray in, spray comes out the other end. Every passage is clear. I ran copper wire through them all. The largest size that would fit depending. I even bypassed the fuel pump and gravity fed straight...

I've read threads where ones say the V4's are prone to rings breaking - catching on the cylinder walls where there's openings. . Is there anything I can do to minimize that happening? Like an additive like yamalube or mixing a stronger oil to fuel ratio, or....?

I took a vacuum tester and hooked it up to the line that goes from the fuel pump to the carburetor bowls. Pumped it up to 20 and let it sit for 5 minutes. It didn't drop pressure one bit.
