Sound's like you have a choke or carb issue. A sticky choke will cause it to load up-to much fuel-and stall out,or run to rich and have no power due to fuel overload and not enough air. A plugged up carb will seem about the same. On another note,not enough fuel could do it also,plugged filters...

Re: Some electrical fuse questions. You would ve much happier,(and so would the boat) to install a proper fuse panel near the battery area. You would get the wiring off the battery,easier to maintain.

Re: Balance pole getting in boat How about something like this I've installed a few for people,but much bigger boats. They fit in a rod holder. There are other types,I just googled boat boarding handles. I bet if ya look I-boats probably has them.
