You need that elusive 4th item for a 2 stroke to run.-----Crankcase compression !!

Crazy man.----Look at the 1983 model 235 HP parts diagram.-----The thermostats are in the cylinder heads.----I have 1 or 2 of these powerheads !!------Crazy easy to service !!

Drain carburetor bowl.----Use primer bulb to full it again.---Try starting motor.-----In the future run carburetor empty when done boating.----Fact, an empty carburetor does not gun up.

???---Really----The thermostats are behind a small cover at the top of the cylinder head.-----Easy as can be !

Install new carburetor kits.----Will likely solve all the issues.

The wee key just keeps the bearing housing from turning.----That key will fall out if and when you get the bearing housing moving.-----Corrosion product / nature have jammed it up !!!

Very hard / impossible to disable compression release on these !!!----A leak down test would be easy to do if you know how the compression release works.----Just have to rotate the crankshaft so valves are both closed !!

Most motors rev up in neutral.---Even running on 2 of 3 cylinders.-----Not a good test of anything.----Have carburetors been properly synchronized with vacuum gauges ?

Turn throttle to the NEUTRAL stop for starting.----Ignore marking on the grip.

It looks like there are compression relief mechanisms on this motor.-----So the 60 PSI means nothing !!

Pull driveshaft out..-----Inspect bearing surface above pinion.----Inspect gearcase bushing above pinion gear.

Take it apart for inspection.----Could be a thrust washer missing.

Is there a compression relief feature on this motor ?-----This motor looks brand new does it not ?

Very difficult to flood one of those motors.-----The electric primer valve has fittings with very small holes.

The bottom 2 cylinders should SPARK all the time.-----The bottom 2 carburetors do not work below about 1800 RPM>

Have battery load tested..----Pull starter apart for inspection.-----Inspect battery cables.

The pumps operate with a PRESSURE pulse.-----A 2 nipple pump mounts directly over the pulse port !---All you need on those is a nipple ( pump cover ) for fuel in.----And 1 nipple for fuel out.----The 3 nipple pumps do not mount directly over the pulse port.----No such thing as 2 outputs on these...
