    2001 yamaha 150 vmax

There are several different 150 VMAX models. Carburetted, conventional EFI and HPDI models. Sounds like you might have a VX150TLRX model. Is that correct?

    Getting rid of the relays

Same with the fuel injection salesperson. He came through the auto and outboard motor industries and EFI replaced carburetors.

Odd points system on a 1946 Firestone 3.6 hp outboard

Mercury “Phase Maker” CDI system, “capacitor discharge”…..had mechanical points. points CLOSED to trigger the spark, as compared to other magneto systems, where the points OPEN to trigger the spark. Mercury gave this system the name: “Phase Maker Ignition”, because the points close (MAKE...

    Getting rid of the relays

The value of the relays is that they allow for a reduction is wire size and switch rating. How much current flow to the actuator? Given large enough wire sizing, together with a suitable switch, of course the relays can be done away with. I would be very surprised if the existing switch and...

2016 Yamaha F150 blowing exhaust out of leg

What was the manufacturing defect? If the motor worked fine for roughly 10 years it seems a defect from the factory would have reared its ugly head years and years ago. It is not a manufacturer's job to look after a product they sold long ago and for which they have no control over how it was...

2016 Yamaha F150 blowing exhaust out of leg

If indeed Yamaha (and maybe Suzuki and Honda) are using aluminum alloys that don't seem to be as durable (from a corrosion standpoint) as the alloys used by other motor makers, I would think those companies are smart enough to be using the alloys they use for a particular reason, or reason. I...

2016 Yamaha F150 blowing exhaust out of leg

Are you saying that you think it should not happen? Why is that when in fact it (and so much other stuff that we wish to not happen) is in reality happening. Everywhere. All the time.

Not common but not unheard of either. I think recycled aluminum is used all over the world.

What is your service manual indicating with respect to voltages to the sensors?

1995 Yamaha 115 Trim Motor Replacement

Either remove the entire T & T assembly from the motor and change the pump motor there, or with a bit of finagling the trim motor can be removed in situ. Either way, no need to remove the motor from the boat.

    Yamaha F250A 6P2 – Code 72 Above 4000 RPM After Warm-Up

Check the electrical connectors. Would not hurt to clean them with electrical connector cleaner. Don't apply any corrosion protectant. Would not hurt to disconnect and inspect the connectors at the ECU. Clear the codes and then run the motor again to see what happens.

    07 df250 Valve Shim Question

"I am looking to check/adjust my valve clearances on my 2007 Suzuki df250z and looking for conformation on what type of shim style I may have on my application. Attached is an image on both styles, if someone can kindly confirm which one. Thanks" That appears to be a Yamaha service manual...

    07 df250 Valve Shim Question

Too many variables for me to hazard a guess as to what the clearances will become and when they will be there. Starting clearances (do they start at the minimum?) being just one of many many variables.

    07 df250 Valve Shim Question

Yamaha has transitioned to the updated style as well in a number of their models. Much more difficult to remove the bucket/shim than to just remove and replace the shim in bucket style. If and when it comes to that.

    Yamaha F250A 6P2 – Code 72 Above 4000 RPM After Warm-Up

That tachometer does not provide fault codes. You will need either YDIS of the winky blinky to get any codes that may be set.
