Seafoam is basically mineral spirits. Never had any luck with it. Your mileage may vary. Possible the rings aren't fully seated if it's never been run really hard and hot. I have checked valves on tons of these, but never found one that needed adjustment. A decarbonizing spray session won't hurt.

The 25B is EFI... good motor, same as the 30 except for the ECU. I would do a leak down test, looking especially on that low compression middle cylinder. Also make 100% sure the oil is not over full.

As I mentioned in the other forum, start areound 2 turns out and adjust as needed.

The 4/5/6 are identical except for the carbs. Easy swap. The fuel valve is fairly cheap. YMMV.

P is remote. F is tiller. The chokes turn opposite. Why not clean the old carb properly?

Verify the ABS circuit is clear in the bottom of the well. Verify the ABS wiring is good.

I would clean and lubricate the 2 ratchets. Make sure the return springs are OK. As for the carb... assuming you have an MFS9.8A2. Year is irrelevant.,, I would do a Proper carb cleaning. The accelerator pump in the picture was used on some Mercury and european models. Not used on US versions.

I have checked valve lash on many of these; none needed adjustment. It does sound over propped.

I would go to Tohatsu. What's wrong with the old LU? Maybe it can be repaired. You need the actual model... not year.

Oil light is powered by ignition when oil pressure is below 4 psi or so. I would expect it to flicker when starting.
