Folks are confused about boats and motors etc , etc.----I remember the insurance agent asking me how fast my 30' sailboat could go with the motor. .----I said with the right conditions the sails could push it at double the speed of the motor.----Nothing but an amazed look from the agent.----Yes...

But there is wonderful information available to you.----At a certain pressure-Flow through a 1" diameter hole is 4X that of the flow through a 1/2 " diameter hole.-----Nature does not always work the way you think it does !!

Do what you like.------Perhaps look at characteristics / calculations of airflow through a hole and engine performance.-----There must be some tutorials on google.

I doubt there is compression release on these Honda outboards.

Would you need a " permit " to indicate modifications to your motor ?------Then just take a piece of shim stock and make a plate behind the carburetor to reduce air flow.----The hole at 2/3 diameter of what it is now will do it.

You could run with a timing light to observe spark as you increase throttle.-------I do know that a 20 PSI difference in a modern motor indicates a problem !!-------But in the big picture a head gasket is cheap.----Take the head off and have a look in there.

Some will argue -----Those compression numbers indicate a problem , like a scored piston.-----Pull cylinder head to have a look.----You have installed a new impeller in water pump ?

Run it on a ---Marine dynamometer-----That will check true engine power output.

It has power trim and tilt.-----In shallow water you can raise the motor to clear the bottom of the river / lake !!

Post compression values.----And does spark jump a gap of 3/8" (1 cm ) on all leads ?

Looks correct to me -----A long shaft motor on a 20" transom is what I see.

The " beep " on the turn of the key was a feature on newer control boxes.-----Find the tan coloured wire at the cylinder head.-----Slide rubber boot to expose knife connecter.----Turn key to on.-----Touch wire connecter to ground.----The horn should sound.

There should be a warning horn in the control box.---Best to test it now.-------If you do not know condition or age of water pump impeller you should install a new one.

It has an ECU , crank position sensor and carburetors ??

Some folks think that these things are all the same !----Proof that 12 volts and wires can be confusing.

??----You have to be clear with your questions / enquiry.-----There are different V-4 engines.-----The 90 degree crossflows.------The 60 degree loopers.----The 90 degree loopers.------While gears inside might be the same the driveshaft and shift rod may be different !!!-----The 60 degree looper...

The concept is quickly coming to marine engines too.-----Factories ( far away ) operate with robots and computers.-----Your local shop with high overhead can not compete with the factory in far away places.

Not a factory part.----That makes posting advice difficult and adds confusion in most cases.

As stated the sealer is supposed to squeeze out !!-----I assemble these with no primer.----Meticulous preparation.----Cleaning with laquer thinner.----Never use primer.----No problems either.

Compression test first !!----Post the numbers.----Then look for strong spark on each lead.----These motor sound nice running on 3 of 6 cylinders.
