Aluminum or Alloy Pulleys - Mercruiser 7.4L

Does anyone know where you can buy aftermarket aluminum pulleys? Specifically for the sea water pump on a 1993 Gen V 7.4L Mercruiser. The stock pulleys are very prone to rust and for $110 I believe one could buy an aluminum one that might not be so prone to rust for this amount.

    1993 7.4L/Bravo 1 - Sea Water/Fuel Pump

Over the weekend, the actuator lever on my fuel pump was worn down to the point of no fuel pressure so the engine starved for fuel. The culprit, no gear lube in the fuel pump provision at the sea water pump. I have removed the pumps, the fuel pump will have to be replaced. However, the sea...

    Engine Turns Over No Start - 1993 7.4L/Bravo 1

My engine has been running great but after doing some low rpm trolling for white bass and then shutting the engine off, you could turn over and no fire. I could spray starting fluid into the carb. but still no fire. The sensor, distributor, plugs and coil are either new or relatively new. I...

Bravo 1 Shift Cable Bellows Over Shift Cable?

I am in the process of replacing all of the bellows and gimbal bearing on my 1993 7.4L/Bravo 1 sterndrive. How do you get the small end of the shift cable bellows over the shift cable hex head nut. I have attached pictures to show my dillemma. Does one just lube it up liberally and force it...

Bravo 1 Gimbal Bell Housing/Bellows Installation Sequence

I thought I would ask the knowledgeable crew of Iboats forum the sequence for installing the u-joint bellows, exhaust tube, water hose, and shift cable bellows or maybe post a link to the service manual for doing this. Please note that I am re-using the water hose as that it's in good shape and...

Online Parts Purchase - Scam or OK?

Ok, I know this might be a competing dealer or what not with Iboats.com but I thought I'd ask anyways. Is buying parts from Mercstuff.com a reputable dealer. I just made a purchase on their website and then realized they do not have a phone number to call them and really no good way of...

    1993 7.4L/Bravo 1 Gimbal Bearing

I'm ordering a new gimbal bearing and would appreciate some bearing part no. verification: It appears to be a Mercury Part No. 30-60794A4 Mallory Marine 9-72410 However, Sierra seems to have two that fit and I'm curious which is right and what the difference may be? They are as follows...

Bell Housing Hinge Pin Repair - Bravo 1

My starboard hinge pin came out but all threads were galled beyond the realm of resuse and I ended up beating the port side hinge pin completely out as that the threads completely stripped. My intent is to repair the bell housing using a repair kit specifically for the bell housing by drilling...

    Hinge Pin Stripped

The left side hinge pin om my Bravo 1 has stripped and wont come out. The right one came out. How do I get it out and is the housing toast since its the aluminum threads that have strippef instead of the sstl hinge pin bolt?

    Bravo 1 - Input Shaft / U-Joint Rust

When I pulled my outdrive for the winter, the drive shaft and u-joint have rust on them from exposure I'm assuming through a leaking bellows or seal. In any case, I'm replacing all the bellows/seals as we speak, since the shaft and u-joint are in great shape (besides the surface rust), is there...

    Power Steering Actuator Assembly

I have a 1993 Crownline 225 CCR with a 7.4L/Bravo 1 engine/sterndrive. I am planning to replace the steering actuator before spring and I keep seeing different part numbers like the original had been superseded with a new part number. The parts identifier on www.********** indicates that it is...

    Gimbal Bearing Concerns

I pulled my Bravo 1 outdrive off this past weekend to winterize (kind of funny sounding here in Galveston, TX), but more in preparation for engine removal and repower. In any case, everything came off pretty easily, I put it in forward gear, removed the trim cylinders, removed the speedo tube...

    Mercruiser Steering 1993 7.4L/Bravo 1

I didn't take my boat out for about 3 weeks. Got it unloaded at the ramp started engine to warm up, and the steering was completely locked up. Reloaded boat, took home, removed the hyd. lines from the actuator and the steering cable pin. Outdrive still would not move. Removed the steering...

    Engine removal 7.4l/bravo 1

I am going to be removing the 7.4L engine from my '93 Crownline 225 CCR. Can anyone send me a diagram of the rear engine mounting details, it is very difficult to reach/see behind this engineo on this boat and it would be helpful to know what needs to be removed. Are there any...

    496 Build Up Questions

Ok, I've decided to build my own marine engine. I've built my own race engines successfully, I'm going to tackle my boat engine. I've purchased a used 454 Gen V, same as my '93 7.4L/Bravo 1. I'm going to bore it .060" and buy an eagle or scat stroker kit. Here's my question, aside from...

    1993 7.4L Mercruiser / Bravo 1

I'm going to attempt to build a mild replacement engine for my boat and I'm gonna mirror my current gen V mercruiser 7.4L. I've already found block and heads. My question is, does the current engine, the Mercruiser, specifically the cylinder heads, use "inconel" valves or are they just severe...

Mercruiser Bravo Stabilizers???? What are these called?

Can someone tell me what the stainless tubes are going up and around the outdrive and connecting to the bottom of the outdrive. My Bravo 1 appears to have holes drilled in these locations but no tubing. What are these and what do they do? Thanks!

    US Engines (Pros/Cons)

I am thinking about doing a long block repower for my 7.4L/Bravo 1 (300 HP). US Engines seems to have a really nice looking price for a long block with over 100 more horsepower and 25% less fuel. Now I build my own race engines for circle track racing, and typically, the more HP, the more fuel...

    1993 7.4L Mercruiser / Bravo 1 (300 HP) 600 CFM or 750 CFM Carburetor

I have a 1993 7.4L Mercruiser/Bravo 1 in my Crownline 225 CCR. The current carburetor on it is a Weber 4bbl. I would like to change the carburetor to the new Edelbrock marine carburetors model number 1409 or 1410. They are 600 cfm and 750 cfm respectively. Can anyone tell me which one to use...
