Mercury 80 won't crank with plugs installed

Bottom line is....there should not be liquid in the cylinders like that...you have a problem but I can't say what it might be. Better to get it looked at by someone that knows.

    1959 Evinrude 5.5hp 5518 prop install

Sure you have the right prop ? Typically they slide on with ease if the shear pin is centered properly..and the shaft is greased.

Outdrive will not go back into transom

The alignment tool also aligns the bearing to make the shaft go in easier. In all my years of boating (60yrs plus)cutting corners never worked for me....

Anchor Industries Deckette Pro 160 16 foot Specs

Old fiberglass boat from the 80's or before ?? Wooden structure will be rotten for sure, acts like a skeleton for the fiberglass, once that skeleton is rotted the glass hull can fold up under pressure. No way would I hang any type of outboard motor without some deep digging unto the hull...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Using the boat everyday is a dream we all have...lol...at best a couple times a week is more accurate. There have been periods of time when it sits for weeks and that is my concern. There are days when you go out with a fully charged batter but due to conditions it doesn't get used then might...

    Mercruiser 120 poor starting

Your on the right track, new plugs does not mean they are firing hot....a nice blue spark that jumps an 1/8" or greater gap is needed. Check cap and rotor for cracks or carbon tracking. Steel fuel tanks that old are a definite problem and need changed out. Water separating filter is a must ...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Have similar thoughts, but want to do what is best for the battery. My boat is trailered and stores in my barn. LifePo4 battery is only for my trolling motor, nothing else. There are periods of time maby a month or so where the fishing slows down and more joy riding takes place where the...

    Mercruiser 120 poor starting

Need to start with basics and trouble shoot....compression test results ? Spark plug strength test..? Fresh fuel, not months old stuff, filters clean? Carb clean..? Actual factory rebuild kit for the carb, not just spraying some carb cleaner here and there. All guesses without actual...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Ok....have my new 140ah battery, charger and ready to go. Trying to think ahead to be ready when the season opens up here in the next month or two. There might be periods of time that I can't use my boat, weather, life etc....and these new smart batteries don't like being stored at a full...

    My next table project

My son has an extensive woodshop....lots of fancy toys. He has a large flat plate that he uses to straighten bowed boards. He attaches them to this big flat plate to hold them flat then adds water mixture then adds heat and they normally come out very straight.

    My next table project

Very cool !!! I nade a couple tables in my younger days that turned out pretty nice, but my biggest issue has been with the wife. Before long she piles a bunch of crap on the table so no one can see it !! So....I stopped building tables.....gotta say that none of mine looked as good as...

    Nissan

I have never found roll pin punches to be that precise or accurate in the diameter. I would go with a 1/8" if you have one and be done. If that should be to big (.007" difference) then use a 3/32.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

From what I have heard they are reputable but pricey....The Timeusb also has a very good reputation but at a lower cost.

All of my Bimini tops have been adjustable by mounting them on a sliding rail and have adjustable straps to hold them in position, so never had one that snapped into position.....

    Boat cushions

Check around the local old car clubs, most have an upholstery guy that does extra work on the side for pocket money. These guys are usually far cheaper than anyone with a " boat or marine" in the name. I have used these guys a few times and their work has been very good and prices was right...
