Winter mice are too much this cold winter in New Jersey.

Buy a small bottle of strong peppermint oil, add a few drips to cotton balls and spread them around. Mice hate the smell of peppermint, some use pepperment candies but the sugar draws other insects. Peppermint oil works best and is cheap.

    Fuel tank

If your screws don't grab the second time around, go to the next bigger screw size. Or coat the threads with a caulk or sealant like goop. Run the screws in but not tight, until the sealant sets up, then snug them down.

    Boat Trailer Tail Lights

Never use your tow ball as a ground or you will have issues. Dedicated ground wire to trailer frame on mine with a jumper ground wire where frame sections have a joint and each light on the trailer has a ground to the frame. Each connection is sealed so no water touches any connection. Never...

Advice needed on 12'-14' jon boat purchase.

Consider this....most insurance adjusters will tell you that a small tinney upside down on supports are far more likely to disappear in a windstorm than a small tinny attached to a trailer !! I know this from experience, more than once !

Towing a 22 foot Islander that was changed from I/O to outboard on bracket.

Gotta get the boat balanced on the trailer, probably need to move axle, if trailer is not long enough then buy a longer trailer or add on to the tongue to make it long enough. Will need more support under the transom. Very doable if you have deep enough pockets..

1986 johnson 20hp tiller electrix start

I am a picky old fart, if I loan something out, I expect it to come back like you got it, if it doesn't you won't borrow from me again. For this reason, folks are happy to loan me things as they know I will take care of it and make any repairs that might be needed if I mess something up.

1986 johnson 20hp tiller electrix start

To each his own, but I am a big believer in doing things correct the first time. Hate doing the same job over again, especially because I cut corners. I would do a thorough clean and rebuild with a kit to be sure the carb will not be an issue.

If your going to spend the time cleaning the carb, grab a " factory" rebuild kit so you have all new gaskets and the instructions for proper setup.

    Transom replacement or design flaw?

We need to remember that this is only a 12' aluminum rowboat, a basic model from Starcraft. Max HP rating is 10 hp, and that was probably rated with a lighter weight two stroke. Replace the old wood with some good plywood and the boat will be better than new !! Most all small row boats have...

    Transom replacement or design flaw?

Have saw many rebuilders just add an aluminum piece between the rear of the tank seat and then to the transom riveted or screwed in place to stiffen the transom. Back in my younger days, made a few myself, then no holes thru the bottom !

    !/2 ton Truck towing limitations

If you towing serious weight over distances and at speed, then a WDH is necessary, but for occasional short tows, it really doesn't matter unless the weight is really excessive. Living near lake erie, the walleye capital, most of the trucks I see towing larger boats are defiantly not setup for...

    Should I Buy A Jackplate

Been setting up boats and motors for over 60 years. My go to setup is to adjust the trim so the cav plate is parallel to the bottom of the hull. A long straight edge along the bottom then trim your motor until the cav plate is parallel !! Now measure how high or low the cav plate is....adjust...

WHY I HATE RUSTOLEUM AEROSOL PAINT

Rustoleum has more particles in their paint, thus extra shaking is needed to mix it thoroughly. Been using the stuff for decades without issue, but I spend at least 10-15 minutes shaking before use and continue shaking as I use it. Cheap paint cans have far less paint particles in the mix...

    Transducer mounting best option?

Are you using this just to read the depth, or are you needing to scan the are for fish or other details ? Just as a depth sounder only, shoot thru the hull if you can get it in a good position. If your needing underwater details then a transom mount is needed. With today's adhesive's ...
